  • Just joined the Gym!

    AsSalaamu alaikum!

The local gym had a good promo, so what did I do? I signed my lazy bum up!

So.. I have a very sedentary lifestyle. I get hours of sleep and not much activity. What is a good beginner's workout?

Basically my goals for 2016 are listed below:
    • Cardio development (did I make that up?)
    • Toning flabby underarms
    • Toning the fl-ABS
    • Strengthening muscles
    • Increasing flexibility
    • INSANITY by Nov 2016
    • Learning how to swim

For the month of January I just want to keep it light and build a routine focusing on cardio. I was thinking to walk the treadmill 30 minutes the first week, 45 the next, get the flow? Till I build up to an hour. And once that's locked down, I'll start increasing the increments of jogging. Do people even run for an hour straight?

My diagnostic is scheduled for the 4th of Jan. That's only a few days away. I'd like to know what your workout routines are?

OK so first things first. Congrats you're now one of the 68% of people making a new years resolution. And, the 40% who say it to be related to health and fitness. You are also more likely to drop this whole idea of working out within 2 months. 92% likely to in fact. Also, you have a very slim chance of succeeding in your endeavour. Your chances of achieving your goal are only 8%. This means, for every 100 people in your shoes only 8 will carry on to become fit and healthy achieving their set January goal by at the end of the year. That means 92 people will fail.

    Hope that helps.

In my estimation, the hardest thing to do is to stick with it. Many people expect to see results right away; and when they find out that they need to put more effort into it, they give up and stop excercising. The pull down and the row machine are my favorites :D. I don't do much cardio.

Those are facts, personally though I think it's quite motivating. Go against the grain... Be part of the few that succeeds. The 8%.

my workout is usually quite strenuous

I take the laundry basket down and flippin gel, it's like lifting a tonne of metals or something. And taking it back upstairs again, honestly it's like climbing mount Everest.

Drains me out, It's called a great work out. Until the next load, because washing machines work longer with calgon.

just ensure its a female only gym, keep hydrated (plenty of water), and ask the instructors there.

Don't focus on cardio too much. Typical female mistake.
Hit the weights more (depending on how much body fat you need to reduce first).
Increased weight training gives better results & makes you look and feel ahmaazing.

another great way to exercise is to wipe the windows

you clean and move at the same time

to the left, to the right
