  • Looking for good madrassah's in Somali to memorize Quran properly and learn Arabic

Asalamu aleykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatu.

Dear brothers and sisters, I registered and made this account to ask if any brothers or sisters (specifically Somali's who may of studied there or know a good madrassah) know of a good madrassah where I can memorize the Qur'an fluently and learn classical Arabic.

I am looking to memorize the Qur'an and learn classical Arabic in around 2 years to a decent amount before I continue my studies elsewhere in other countries bi'ithnillah.

To the brothers or sisters that do direct me to a good madrassah preferably in Hargeisa or Lasanod I hope that Allah swt rewards you heavily in sha Allah.

    Jazak'allahu Khair.

Go private brother that way you have more time with the teacher, there is steady influx of Syrian and Yemeni teachers into Hargeysa for the past 3 years.
Quran is also best done one on one . Your teacher is also able to teach you a lot more if it is one on one and the cost varies but last time i checked the average they charged was 50-100 dollars for 2 hours a day 4 days a week with a Thursday and Friday off and a extra day of your choosing.

do you plan to stay with family ?

Most likely will stay with family but I may live on my own if needs be

I really want memorize the Qur'an without a single mistake and would prefer a very strict teacher.

What about Arabic? I wanted to memorize the Quran first then after that learn classical Arabic to a reasonable standards after.

I saw a post u made that u memorized the Quran by writing it out, is that what the teachers in Hargeisa do as well?

And is the 50-100 dollars per month or per week brother ?

      Jazak Allahu Khair

Depending on where you study they teach a certain way.most madrassas still teach using BT writing on wooden plank. But cash is king so if you pay and ask the teacher that you want to learn on a lahw its fine .

        Avoid the overly packed madaris.

Focus on Quran for the first year it will keep busy and the following year you can study nahw sarf with a Somali teacher and study Arabic vocab convoy and balagha if you get that far with a Arab teacher

ID:	10757122 Hargeisa He can direct you to young students of knowledge that have ijaza who are usually his students . or others that have gotten ijaza in 7-10 qiraat in Egypt or Saudi. Go see sh muhamed umar dirir. Studying Quran 7 days a week will give you lots of free time. This would also be a good time to complete the 3-4 shafi books of fiqh and benefit from the knowledge out there. 2nd year I would focus on Arabic 7 days a week , I met a Swedish brother who had memorises alfiya ibn malik in a year manshalah and he was looking to go back to Sweden but this time fluent in Arabic.

If you put your mind to it all going to be good

Ok in sha Allah jazak Allahu khair for the directing me and helping me may Allah reward you.

i will try in sha allah try see sheikh muhamed umar dirir, Ive watched some of his tafsir videos before ma sha allah

My Somali is not amazing also, so would that matter much? my understand is average not too bad but i'm not really good at speaking Somali. Would that affect me much?

but anyway that will be a start. If i live on my own and just rent out some property, how much would that cost me per monthly living pretty averagely? I have family in Hargeisa but most of my close families like my uncles grandfathers etc are in lascanod i believe.

I would advise you to live with family for a number of reasons . one is your health , it is not impossible to get a mild tropical disease so best to have family around. Also it is better to help them financially than rent out a place. AS for your Somali by the time your back ur going to be fluent just speak and let people laugh at you .

Sh muhamed Aaden is also someone who is very well connected a favourite with the youth

Jazak'allahu khair haha in sha Allah i wont make that much of an embarrassment for myself

So you think 2 years would be enough to finish the memorize of the Qur'an, learn average level Arabic and its sciences, and to cover some Shafi'i fiqh books?

I was planning on 2 years then after that perhaps going elsewhere in the Arab world to get my Arabic to a high level. Perhaps Mauritania or so. There is an institute that I was reading about which you apparently you learn all the Islamic Sciences to a very strong level. I am young still in my mid/late teens so do you think I should go to Somalia for longer than 2 years?

I would go for around 3-4 years you can then decide to go elswhere to supplement , whether you go Tunisia or Egypt or Morroco it doesn't matter you have to get your basics in order. Travel to find someonthing another region specialises into.

get the basics down Quran(hifdh, tajweed, rasm and dadb) , Fiqh and usool fiqh, basic aqeedah is fine and Arabic. After that India is the place people go to for the science of hadeeth, sh dirir got Ijaza in all 6 books of hadeeth from there. Most scholars i met traveled to India to get their Ijaza in hadeeth , the indian mashaikh are masters of hadeeth.

but take your time there is no rush

Brother whats your opinion on Mahad Sunnah ? I was looking for places which focus on Shafi fiqh and that come up. Its a 3 year program up north in Burco. Arabic etc they cover well, Fiqh, basic aqeedah. Sciences of hadith in 3rd year. Do they cover Quran there also? Like the sciences you mentioned? What do you think about going there after I memorize the Quran(i think thats a requirement)? Would that be enough to be really good in Shafi fiqh?

Or do you know any better places? The main thing i want to focus on would be Shafi fiqh/usol, Arabic, Quran(the sciences), and learn Basic Aqeedah and hadith. But the first 3 are like the main things i wanted to focus on. Especially shafi fiqh because thats what Somalia has to offer i guess which other countries dont.

I think the best thing to do once you have memorised the Quran is to go private like i described because you can progress much faster and you have time to do other things . Mahad is great but i have to be honest it isn't exactly a beginner institute the students there memorise bukhari etc but nothing beats private lessons because you progress at your own pace and most of the time it means being faster than institutes schedule.

Memorise the Quran take you about a year in Hargeisa about 8 month and you have like 3 months of revision where you complete the Quran 2 times a week they check your recitation at fajr and at maghrib or at a time of your choosing. you basically recite like 6-7 juzz per sitting sometimes more.

Alright jazak'allahu khair brother. The only thing i am not sure about is the fact that i dont know exactly what books to go and study whereas the institutes will sort that out etc but i will try take your advice and look for private lessons first.

Does private mean 1 on 1 with a teacher or with other students also?

The other problem is the fact that i dont exactly who to look for as a teacher and where to look for one. Do you ask in the masajid or so?

No one who has learned Qurān and then forgotten it except due to a sin he has committed
