Listen to Surat Tawba by Maher al-Muaqily. It helps.
Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.

Take pain medication. If its mental or other pain then I only know to suffer it. Talk about it, rant about it, pray for it to go away. And have patience. I think it was Ayob aleihim salam who was sick for most of his life and I think it included much pain and he lost everything but he never lost his love for Allah subhanahu ta ala.
6:62 "Then are they restored unto Allah, their Lord, the Just. Surely His is the judgment. And He is the most swift of reckoners."

Chocolate for some may be a short term happiness. But it prolongs mood rather than alleviating it in the long term

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an: ‘Read, and ascend, and recite as you used to recite in the [previous] world, for your status will be according to the last verse that you recite.’” [At-Tirmidhi (2914) and Abu Dawood (1464)]

Dw when people use it as an emotional eating strategy it fails later on. Even if they offer a bit of gratitude in the beginning.

                          With sabr. Time heals

                          Then look for solution....

                          ....

                          And stroke your beaed
Never have I dealt with anything more difficult than my own soul, which sometime helps me and sometime opposes me

Re: How to deal with pain

I think of these pains as expiations of sins i committed. I think that human body is an amazing creation of Allah swt as it technically is capable of self healing. So when i suffer from physical pain and ailments i take mental strength from it. Im amazed at when some people go on FB to advertise their that they're feeling so and so.
Allah is the one who we should be opening our hearts to as He is the Controller of all beings, the Healer of all ailments and sickness.

May Allah gives Muslim Ummah the patience and steadfastness of Prophet's companions who sufferings were 100 folds in comparison to ours and yet they accepted it and moved on by turning to the Creator
