  • is uunsi/frankencense safe?

does anyone know? I mean the charcoal burning just doesnt seem safe. I tried looking it up but I couldnt find anything on it, but on the charcoal bag it says do not burn in the house. Are the smaller ones ok? And is it safe to use it at least 3 times a week? I think most somali people are immune to it or something.

Use the ones made specifically for burning bakhoor/shisha etc and you should be ok inn sha Allah.

I assumed you already had a "manual" bakhoor burner, hence the question about what kinda coals:/

There are small circle coals they sell, which people use for smoking shisha and burning bakhoor.
Its different to the kinda coal they sell at petrol pumps (which I think you shouldnt burn in the house)

        Hope it makes sense now.

Me personally, I like the electrical burners.
                Just less hassle all around.
Plus the smell of coal isnt there at all.

And you can adjust the temperature, so it burns jus right.

Jus google bakhoor or shisha coal and it should come up.

Please do post here if you come up with anything interesting (like it gives you cancer etc).

                        ^,

                        there's always an alternative.
                        look into soy/beeswax candles.

I've also read that burning wax candles, especially the ones that contain fragrance and chemicals are carcinogenic and can create toxicity in the lungs. Such a shame, I used to enjoy burning candles.
The very concept of bukhoor/uunsi does sound dangerous if you think about it lol. We rarely burn it in our house because I have asthma and it becomes difficult for me to breathe. I love the smell though.
