  • Removing of hair

    :start:

    Salaams

Is it necessary to remove all the hair below the navel for both men and women? If so, would it be better to wax, use removal cream or shave? Or can you just trim the hair?

The reason I'm asking this is because a friend wanted to know. I am aware that it is a private question.

    Jazakallahkir.

    Just use duct tape.

      :eek2:

Err, I don't think men are allowed to remove the hair from directly under the navel...what is known to women as the *bikini line*

But I think any method of hair removal is allowed, as long as it does the job...

Maybe you should take this into the brothers forum. :help:
      What does 'freedom' mean?

Does the eagle want to swim in the sea,
      Restricted by the sky?

Does the fish want to dance on the wind,
      Not enough river to explore?

Yet the sky is freedom for the bird
      but death for the fish,

The sea is wide for the fish
      but will engulf the bird.

We ask for freedom but freedom to do what?
We can only express our nature as it was created.

The prayer mat of the earth is freedom,
freedom from slavery to other than the One,
Who offers an shoreless ocean of love to swim in
and a horizon that extends to the next life,
Yet we chose the prison and call it freedom.

Err...wasn't it sunnath? At least from what I heard. Aren't both men and women supposed to remove hair from the armpit region and the pubic region (as sunnath)?

Oh, and btw, don't try the duct tape. I was only joking. Could cause a serious rash.

Pubic region, and directly under the navel are different places....

I read this only recently, I'll dig around for the answer again inshaallah. :)

With the regard to women, the rulings on removing the pubic hair are the same as the rulings for men. And Allaah knows best.

              And I found this one:

Q: What is the area of shaving the pubic hair for a male and female?

A: The area immediately under the navel is not to be shaven. The area of shaving for a person (male / female) is above and around the private parts. If possible, it is commendable to shave around the hind private parts as well. (Al-Kaamil, commentary of Muslim; Imaam Nawawi vol. 1 pg. 128).

              and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

Upon what grounds? What hadith does the Mufti have to support his case that one cannot shave the area immediatly below the navel? That I do not see.

actually, the mufto has given a reference to a book: (Al-Kaamil, commentary of Muslim; Imaam Nawawi vol. 1 pg. 128)

anyway, there's a difference between the hairs in the pubic region and other body hairs. so as far as i know, use that as ur guide
