it's absolutely disgraceful for girl's side to propose and I don't see that changing anytime soon, well esp not in my family && we are not even cultural, some things tend to stick though.

That is just one example... it is not the preference, it is the way society view them. It was a certain culture

It is like a cycle, females will judge other females, then when they are widowed or divorced they will go through the hate and others will judge and etc...

Though, that culture does kinda go against Islam, since you are not meant to judge.

I was trying to look at cultures that doesn't go against Islam.

Why has it took so long for us to realise it?

I remember watching a documentary about widows and the way they are behaved, and it is clear they are deserted and hurt. But no one says no about the issue. No one stops the cycle.

We can say no, but would we actually act on our words?
That's the thing. The walkin the walk. It's fear and in some ways cowardice imso.

Language and cuisine i would like to keep course other than that your 'Ps and Pss' has left no choice

But there are certain customs/traditions we have which have no basis in deen but same time I would like to carry on :insha: so long as it dont contradicts shariah :)

    Am I new generation?

If you hate something so much and it's imposed on you, the moment you get a chance you'd run far from it. Why make things harder for your own children? Different approach for different ppl based on experience etc etc.

But if they don't wish to break the bad and they don't challenge it now then I bet you it's gonna stay the same as it has.
