  • Rude Teacher

So I just got my test back and I did fine and I felt okay about it (because I was so nervous). So I went to ask her a question in class and because people were behind me, I asked my question briefly and concisely. Then she says to me (in front of like 5-6 people)

"You're very snippy. Everytime you ask me a question, you're very rude. So could you fix your attitude?"

Naturally, I was aghast at this because I try really hard to be nice to my teachers without sucking up like other students. However, that comment (and the fact she said it publicly) kinda ruined the happiness I felt at doing good on my test.

I also don't wanna go review it by myself tomorrow (in the morning cuz i didn't have enough time and I would have to ask her questions).

How do I stop this depressing me for the whole day and actually ask her questions like normal again?

Not as bad as what happened to me last semester

Calm down and ask her how you were rude ... and just ask a friend or something about questions you may have ...

My teacher was horrible. She never helped me and always ignored my Qs and had an attitude so after going to class for two weeks I walked out, like a boss.

Gotta say, some teachers make you want to slap them. They usually take offence at people not asking them questions the way they expect you to in their head. I deliberately go out my way to be firm with all the teachers from my younger siblings school. I had one teacher on the phone trying to make light of my sisters constant visit to medical specialists as her 'educations suffering' and I put boot to butt that he started backtracking and stumbling over his words. The reason I did it was because he tried to be forceful and 'Oh, we are teachers! you must obey!'.

I generally hate people like that cause i'm a 'boss' and don't like sucking up to people. I don't care if they got a billion pound business. I'll be polite, but I ain't something for you to walk over.

BTW, what level are you? Just trying to guess an age where you'd really still bother asking teachers. Older we get, more we just talked to classmates than teachers.

Grade 11, but this is a Grade 12 course. I was just trying to see why I got the answer wrong and everyone in my class is rude and won't talk to me, so she's the only person left.

Yeah, I feel for your situation. Just try smoothing it over and saying "Miss, I wasn't trying to be rude, I think you maybe mistook my tone" and this isn't you apologising because clearly you didn't do anything wrong. Notice how she said 'snippy' when you mentioned you like to keep it brief and concise? Seems like an issue on her end with being talked to that way I guess.

              Hope it works out.

I have no friends in that class. Everytime I tried to start a convo or be friendly with someone, they either give me this blank/frowning look, or cut the convo as short as they can. Also, it's not her just saying that that annoys me. It's the fact that she had to embarrass me in front of people. And she said it really loud so half the class heard too

                    Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuhu sister,

Hmm, reading from your posts, you said that your teacher and your whole class are rude towards you.

From what I can see, it is as though they all collectively dislike you...

Try to think, what could made all of them act that way. Maybe there're something that you do or how you carry yourself (your acts, your tone of voice, maybe your clothing, etc) that perhaps made them dislike you.

Your teacher used the word "snippy" to describe your acts. This is what it means:

A term commonly used by authority figures, parents, and teachers
to young children meaning something close to 'sassy' or 'short' or 'having attitude'. For example,

Young man, don't you get snippy with me!

                    (Source: urbandictionary.com)

Snippy also means: brief / abrupt / blunt / discourteous / sharp-tongue / and the like...

So think about it. Maybe the way you ask your questions is abrupt or discourteous? Perhaps you can firstly ask: "teacher, is it okay for me to ask you some questions?", instead of immediately go to her and starts questioning.

It is also weird that your teacher and your whole class dislike you for no reason. It is understandable if 1-2 people dislike you. But if the teacher and the whole class dislike you, that definitely sounds suspicious and needs investigation.

No, I've only been in this class for 4 weeks and I definitely didn't offend anyone : that i know. Also, I don't think the teacher "dislikes" me but rather thinks I'm rude. Also, I don't immediately question her; I know that's rude. I always say I have a question and sit down next to her (in the chair she tells us to sit in).
