Asallamou alaikuom. Can anyone provide evidence whether we should or should not talk whilst eating? And whether we should drink before, after or during meal? JazakumAllahuKhyren

Eating and drinking have varied situations with regard to time factor. At breakfast, time can be pressing if one has little time left to leave home.At dinner one may have all the time to socialise and interact with family members.Conventional rules for conduct in polite society ,in the latter case, are to leave the table together but not to leave the chores entirely to the womenfolk to clear the mess.

i don't have 'evidence', but one should not talk excessively and loudly while eating. I am sure you can drink before the meal although if you overdrink, you may lose appetite for your meal. Also ensure to take breaks while drinking and don't drink in one go.
