Have you ever been to any?

Do they have them often in your city or do you have to travel to them?

Random conferences I've seen on Youtube show a very large turn out. Are they typically this large and do you have to get there early?

What was the last one you attended? Was it at a masjid or a large conference/convention center?

Vain questions for sisters: I want to make sure I am dressed properly. What did you wear?

I use to go to a one in MN where they held it every summer. My state is so lame and could care less about such things lol! But wallah it was amazing and very eye opining.
They are always sold out so its like thousands of people there. Going there early is a good idea because of parking and such! The last one I attended was 2011 and they held it at a convention center. The one I use to go to always held it at a convention center and not a masjid! To answer your dress question, I wore an abaaya and a scarf. But mash'allah majority of the sisters wore a burka!

I'm not even going to worry about parking, lol. I hate driving and this event is in ATL and driving there is even worse.
My plan was to book the closest hotel and walk. :banan:
I saw some abayas that look like plain long dresses so I was thinking about wearing one of those with a nice jacket. But then I saw one that was a semi-robe and thought about wearing a nice pants suit.

I used to go to Hizb ut Tahrir conferences with Uthman Badr. Now I don't.

we have a few every year
          .
yes there usually is a really large turnout and I would advice going early so you don't end up stuck in the back somewhere or outside

last one I attended was at a masjid

as for what to wear, my advice would be cover as much as you possibly can. wear niqab and gloves too if you can.
because there may be some mixing outside of the masjid/center (you know how some youth are)
and with so many people there there can be fitnah sometimes

(It is that) you believe in Allah and His Messenger and strive in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is best for you, if you should know.
He will forgive for you your sins and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence. That is the great attainment"

We used to frequent ICNA back in the day. I always had a great time alhamdulilah. As for wearing, I'd wear long skirts and loose shirts. But there are so many more modest options to choose from mA.

              Yep! :)

My mom, my sister and I went to one in Toronto about a year and a half ago. It was only a stone's throw away from the Rogers Centre. I saw some of my favorite sheikhs, like Bilal Phillips and Abdur-Raheem Green. It increased my faith so much-- Wallahi. I saw so many sisters wearing niqabs; Mashallah! it brought so much joy to my heart (not in a sensual way, but because I admired their boldness). My mom and sister didn't get much out of the lectures [they're not muslims], but I know that they at least enjoyed learning about the different aspects of our deen.
"Wert thou to follow the common run of those on earth, they will lead thee away from the way of Allah. They follow nothing but conjecture: they do nothing but lie." (surah 6:116)

I would advise you to dress modestly, and not to wear anything to eye catching if brothers are there. Because I noticed some sisters go all out when it comes to conferences :-/ its embarrassing. Just remind yourself that you are there to gain knowledge and not to catch a brother's eye inshaAllah, and you'll be alot more focused lol ( oh and im not implying you'll do any of that silliness btw) :)

I used to go to quite a few in London, but not really any more. I found them of mixed quality and used to feel a bit uncomfortable during the break out times, even though they were usually segregated in the hall. I prefer the sisters only ones. Regarding dress, I would always wear niqaab even when I was wearing it only part time.

Alhumdulillah nowadays I find I get much more out of halaqas really.
Allah is so Great and Merciful that although we continue to disobey Him, He still awaits for our repentance so that He may forgive us.

I didn't realize niqab was so popular. I looked at some pictures of previous conferences and it looked as if there were more sisters wearing niqab than sisters with just the headscarf on.

Update on what everyone is wearing: the sisters of Atlanta chapter of Minhaj-ul-Quran are working as ushers and hostestess
And they are all in black abayas and white hijabs. Half are in niqab. Salwaar kameez in every color, and I think my scarf is the

I enjoy going to conferences, it helps to meet brothers and sometimes ulema. Met some really interesting people and found out who were genuine and who were arrogant and in it for the money etc. Youtube makes them all look good

when I was younger I would go to those I didn't agree with to challenge them. Time constraints mean I go to those I know will be beneficial to me
