  • Vision Loss

    :salams

My nephew has lost his vision in both eyes (he's only 5) all of a sudden with high fever. It's been 9 days today at the hospital but the specialists still can't find any cause. He says he can only see light and sometimes random colours.

I would appreciate it if everyone can keep him in their sincere dua's please, he's name is Ridhwan.

Please also share any information that would help.

Does anyone know any good eye specilaists?

Please keep me and my family in your humble dua's.

    Re: Vision Loss

may Allah restore him to full health and give his family patience during this difficult time

According to Imam Ghazali, illness increases faith and brings man closer to God. Knowing this nature, we are told by the Quran -
"O you who believe, seek help with patience and prayers, as God is with those who patiently persevere" (Quran 2:153).

The Prophet Muhammad used to comfort the ill when he visited them and would say the following prayer:

"O Allah remove the hardship, O Lord of mankind, grant cure for You are the Healer. There is no cure but from You, a cure which leaves no illness behind."

He would also make following prayer for his own health:

"O Allah cure my body, cure my heart and cure my eyesight from any illness" (repeated 3 times).

The Ayah 50:22 is said to contain shifa for eyesight. Its phonetic and translation of the meaning is as follows:

Laqad kunta fee ghaflatin min hatha fakashfna AAanka ghitaaka fabasaruka alyawma hadeedun

It will be said "Thou wast heedless of this; now have We removed thy veil, and sharp is thy sight this Day!"

    Morning and eveing dua:

    Allahumma 'aafiniy fiy badaniy
    Allahumma 'aafiniy fiy sam'iy
    Allahumma 'aafiniy fiy baSariy
    Allahumma inniy a'uwdhu bika minal-kufri wal-faqr
Allahumma inniy a'uwdhu bika min 'adhaabil-qabr
    La ilaha illa anta.

    Repeat 3 times.

Allah, grant health to my body
Allah, grant health to my hearing
Allah, grant health to my vision
Allah I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty
Allah I seek refuge in You from the punishment in the grave
There is no god but You
    What does 'freedom' mean?

Does the eagle want to swim in the sea,
    Restricted by the sky?

Does the fish want to dance on the wind,
    Not enough river to explore?

Yet the sky is freedom for the bird
    but death for the fish,

The sea is wide for the fish
    but will engulf the bird.

We ask for freedom but freedom to do what?
We can only express our nature as it was created.

The prayer mat of the earth is freedom,
freedom from slavery to other than the One,
Who offers an shoreless ocean of love to swim in
and a horizon that extends to the next life,
Yet we chose the prison and call it freedom.

"O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you swerve, and if you distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do." [An-Nisa 4:135]

                The Prophet :saw: said:

"Whosoever leaves off obedience and separates from the Jamaa'ah and dies, he dies a death of jaahiliyyah. Whoever fights under the banner of the blind, becoming angry for 'asabiyyah (nationalism/tribalism/partisanship) or calling to 'asabiyyah, or assisting 'asabiyyah, then dies, he dies a death of jaahiliyyah."

                Narrated 'Abdullah:

"Creeping upon you is the diseases of those people before you: envy and hatred. And hatred is the thing that shaves. I do not say it shaves the hair but it shaves the religion!

By the One in whose Hand is my soul, you will not enter paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Certainly, let me inform you of that which may establish such things: spread the greetings and peace among yourselves."

Please carry on making dua for him - no major improvements as of yet. He can only see a tiny bit from the side of his one eye and the specialists still don't know what's wrong with him apart from sort of virus that caused it. They don't even know what the virus is. Only Allah can help inshaAllah.
