  • Muslims urged to listen to ‘Dikir'

A seminar on Islamic manuscripts was held yesterday at the International Convention Centre (ICC), which was one of the three core components of the Monarch Leadership Exhibition or Pameran Kepimpinan Raja.

The two-day seminar which ends today will have a total of 8 working papers presented by Islamic experts including "Role of Sultan Zaib Alamgir of India in the Compilation of Al-Fatwa Al-Alamgiriyyah" and "Role of Digital Library in Circulating Old Islamic Manuscript".

At yesterday's seminar, Pehin Dato Ustaz Hj Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned delivered his working paper "Kertas Kerja Perdana".

In his working paper, he said that it was saddening to know that most Muslims nowadays do not listen to "Dikir" and other Islamic gospels but prefer mostly the modern alternative in this "nuclear age", as he termed it.

Pehin Dato Ustaz Hj Awang Abdul Aziz noted that there is no doubt that, zikir in general and "selawat" in particular are very significant.

In remembering the greatness as well as the advantages of zikir and "selawat", the religious scholars have painstakingly arranged and written the zikir and "selawat" in various formats without neglecting the meaning of the saying of Prophet Muhammad (Phub).

He went on to say, from experiences which have been seen and the experiment carried out, have shown that the "selawat" is the most effective way in producing a fruitful outcome, RTB reported.

The exhibition "Pameran Kepimpinan Raja" exhibited His Majesty the Sultan's leadership quality.

According to Dato Paduka Awg Ahmad Bukhari bin PSRK Hj Abu Hanafiah, the Director of Administration at the government Mufti Department, His Majesty's leadership quality was attributed to His Majesty's maturity and knowledge that he has as leader and ruler.

Hence, Dato Paduka Awg Ahmad Bukhari said that it is not surprising that His Majesty has the hobby of collecting Islamic manuscripts some of which are exhibited.

According to research by the experts, Dato Awg Ahmad Bukhari said that around 70 to 80 per cent of Islamic knowledge are still hidden inside the Islamic manuscripts that are not easily circulated for public reading.
