While countries all over the world are preserving culture, the Saudis are busy destroying it.

Bread is a staple diet in Syria just like rice is for us, and the government is bombing bread factories so that the people can die from hunger! Many of our brothers and sisters have already died.Imagine we were in this situation, where we don't have anything on our plate to eat? Even a piece of bread?

Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children...

If some sites existed during the time of the Sahaba, and they didn't 'destroy' these sites in Makkah or Madinah, then what right does anyone else have to do so ?

p.s. is it true what it says in the OP about the house of Khadijah (RA) being made into “complex of hundreds of bathrooms” ??

            What a stupid ignorant answer.

I think I wrote it in another thread also but Islam is the only religion that has material historical proofs and relics for its claims and its history and over the years these have been quietly been removed or destroyed - the ones in Saudi by its government of course. There is absolutely no respect whatsoever from these people, they have more respect for financial incentive than for their own selves. It is so sad that so many of the Prophet's family and his beloved companions are unknown to anyone because Saudi decided that they had the right to remove all grave markings, raze them to the ground and leave it basically a dry sandy wasteland. I think not so long ago they even burned the area after razing it down (I think this may have been one of the Prophet's wifes grave) just in case they had not shown it enough disrespect already astaghfirullah.
            What does 'freedom' mean?

Does the eagle want to swim in the sea,
            Restricted by the sky?

Does the fish want to dance on the wind,
            Not enough river to explore?

Yet the sky is freedom for the bird
            but death for the fish,

The sea is wide for the fish
            but will engulf the bird.

We ask for freedom but freedom to do what?
We can only express our nature as it was created.

The prayer mat of the earth is freedom,
freedom from slavery to other than the One,
Who offers an shoreless ocean of love to swim in
and a horizon that extends to the next life,
Yet we chose the prison and call it freedom.

                  what loos talk is this?

to my knowledge, the house of abu jahl, and residence of other bitter enemies of islam were turned into 'bathrooms'

Yes of ocurse you need to have more spaces for Hajjis to stay but they don't need to be towering over the Kaaba nor indeed on its doorstep (suddenly we are unable to walk more than 5 minutes to His House?) And the malls etc are shameful, people going with empty suitcases/ pockets of cash because they have huge shopping lists of what they will buy and bring back? ...
i totally agree with this bit. on one hand i can understand the need to built tall structures [makkah is really cramped for space] but on the other, it's beyond me why they'd spend billions on extravagant towers and comfort living? the essence of pilgrimage is kinda lost on people

Or was being 'worried' about a small number of people enough reason to desecrate/ destroy the tombs/ graves of the beloved companions?
sister, leveling of the grave is from the sunnah. there are ahadeeth warning muslims to not built structures over graves, to not write and white-wash graves and not strengthen them with bricks

many of these graves/ tombs have been the way they are for centuries, this was simply to distinguish them/ mark them as the grave of so and so. This has all been stripped away, not even a plaque or stone to mark where the exact grave is/ whos grave it is- THIS is not from the sunnah and is purposely desecrating and disrespecting not only a pious persons final resting place but also in doing this losing the historical reference to that person and their contributions towards Islam.
