    It does if you do that continually on several generations. If it happens like once or twice inchallah it is fine.

    To the OP : it happens a lot, although in my family that is not the case. My father's name is like 3,000 miles away from my grandfather et great-grand father too. But then we never do things like everybody, we're arabs rebels

          Not all Arabs do this, it is more common among tribal Arabs/bedouins. I believe it is done out of love and respect and lineage also comes into play.

              All my siblings got my fathers name in their last name, i didn't. I just got Ali and they added a Muhammad in front like everyone else does with their kids.
