Hazrat Yahya (a.s) once asked the devil about his most beloved and the least beloved person. He replied, "The one I love the most is the miser mo'min (pious but miser). The one I hate the most is a generous fasiq (sinful but generous).
When asked the reason, Shaitaan replied; The pious miser keeps me unthoughtful because of his 'miserliness', which is enough for taking him to hell, but I am always thoughtful about the sinful generous man because his generosity can immediately attract Allah's forgiveness of all his sins, hence leading to wastage of all my years of efforts in persuading him to keep sinning.
