For all those of you who walk around with your hands in front of your mouth in Ramadan because you have not brushed your teeth or eaten chewing gum to freshen your breath :p

''By him in whose hands my soul is ,the smell coming out from the mouth of a person observing saum is better to Allah :swt: than the smell of musk .''

Allahs messenger was on a journey and saw a crowd of people ,and a man was being shaded [by them]. He asked ,''What is the matter?" they said, ''He [the man] is observing saum [fast] . the prophet said, ''it is not for Al-Bhirr [the righteous] to observe As-Saum [the fast] on a journey.''*

                    [Bukhari]

*is applicable to particular cases, i.e. when someone is so weak or sick that observing saum would harm him/ her. In such cases one has to break their fast, for Allah *swt* does not like his devotees to harm themselves needlessly.

A hadith indicates that the difference between our fasting and that of the ahlul-kitab lies in Partaking in Suhur (ie their practice was not to have suhur)[Muslim]

                      and another one ...

                      Reminder 53

Narrated Anas bin malik [ra]: we used to travel with the prophet and neither did the persons observing saum critisize those who were not , and neither did those who were not, critisize those who were observing saum.

                      [Bukhari]

Important reminder as sometimes we may judge others level of eman depending on whether or not they may fast on a ourney or not...and other similar things ...dont do it..cos the sahaba didn't =)

just remember and to myself also , that if you haven't tried your best now you still have another 14-15 days to go Inshaallah ...make the most of them...MAKE THE MOST OF NOW!
