    Wasalaam,

if youre aneamic then iron tablets should sort it out for you-

have little snacks all throughout the day instead of big meals

take foods you enjoy- make it colourful and interesting

go to the doctors, as they know your internal state better than me

        :wswrwb:

Orange juice and bottled water, that's what i'm drinking as my appetite has gone a bit. Liquids such as the above an maybe sandwiches.
(The hypocrites) will call the believers: "Were we not with you?" The believers will reply: "Yes! But you led yourselves into temptations, you looked forward for our destruction; you doubted (in Faith); and you were deceived by false desires, till the Command of Allah came to pass. And the chief deceiver (Satan) deceived you in respect of Allah."57:14

force yourself to eat little and often. you know it's cause of the depression. eat food that you like, but make sure you include protein foods, this will minimise your muscles wasting away. If you can't stomach much food in one go, then save it and eat some more later. little and often. Also try to include dates and bananas as these include compounds that help boost seratonin levels in the brain (depression is caused by a lack of seratonin, and stress depletes seratonin) - honey is a good cure for many things, if you can get raw organic honey that's better as the processing that regular honey undergoes damages a lot of the health promoting ingredients in it

go to your doctor to get treatment, antidepressants plus counselling worked for me mashaAllah... the antidepressants only cure the symptoms, but that gets you back on your feet so you can do counselling (which helps get to the root of the causes and make changes in how you think and behave that can stop it coming back) and also you can make changes in your life to reduce stress.

Also: get plenty of sunlight and fresh air, try to exercise (any kind of exercise, even just going for walks), try to eat fruit and veg (again, little and often if you can't eat much in one go), try to find time to relax and reduce stress, don't neglect your salat (yes I know that's difficult when you have depression, but trust me (from experience) it helps a LOT in getting over depression), try not to sit around doing nothing (yep I know that's not easy either), try to be around people who are supportive of you and try to stay away from negative people who make you feel worse, try to socialise even if you don't feel like it... if I think of more things I'll post them inshaAllah.

                  Shukran :)

Yes I think the best option for me right now to set myself set times of the day to have small snacks until my body is used to eating again and then I can focus on the bigger snacks later!

they work very well if they are prescribed and used correctly. they have a bad reputation because some docs prescribe them for the wrong things. this is the same for any medicine. Depression is caused by a lack of seratonin in the brain, and anti-depressants replace the seratonin. They only cure the symptoms, not the cause, however curing the symptoms, even temporarily, enables you to work on curing the cause, through counselling and lifestyle changes.

                      yeah, youre right sis-
but ive seen it wreck many people's lives it can get very addictive
the trick of the mind is very powerful, like taking a placebo works just as well some have found

guess it depends on the person though

too much sleep is a symptom of depression.
