  • niqaab/face veil

i've been severely contemplating wearing it, but something holds me back. Not because of other people's reactions, because i dont really care about how i'm going to be percieved (terrorist being the blatantly obvious one with the small minded people), but its more to do with hardships that i'm going to face (and no i'm not a wimp, and yes, i can deal with them). On the other hand i think well life is a trial, and hardships do occur, but then work wise, i work with people who at best can be called resistant, especially when statutory services are enforced on them, so i'm trying to deal with the reality of how a face veil will affect those working relationships.

So was just wondering for sister who wear the face veil and also work, how do you deal with these problems?

I always see an islamic struggle to be like a filter -

an example is my beard - many will perceive it to make finding a job harder - finding a wife harder - making friends and socialising more difficult?

question is do i want a job which discriminates as such - a wife who detests a beard - friends who would treat me differently due to my beliefs?

          Exactly!
(The hypocrites) will call the believers: "Were we not with you?" The believers will reply: "Yes! But you led yourselves into temptations, you looked forward for our destruction; you doubted (in Faith); and you were deceived by false desires, till the Command of Allah came to pass. And the chief deceiver (Satan) deceived you in respect of Allah."57:14

painful torment? (10) (If you do so) He will forgive you your sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow, and pleasant dwellings in Adn (Edn) Paradise; that is indeed the great success. (12)

JazakAllah khair for the duas but i would prefer duas for shahadah instead.

weird analogy:S but lol, point noted!

i mean in terms working with ppl who are hostile to you coming into their family situations and ... ermmmmmmmmmmm how do i phrase this nicely?! ... basically telling them where they're going wrong and wanting to help them, which can appear judgemental and accusatory. if that makes sense :S

Often ppl gauge your reactions by non verbal communications, and covering your face does limit that.

Do you see what i mean?!

is is something I don't understand

I have worn a full beard since I was 19 (I am now 42) and I have never faced any discrimination, heard any comments, faced any sort of difficulty

By the way, I'm not a Muslim.
