For a vast majority of people, yes it is. It takes an average of 2 to 3 years to memorize the Quran. Only those who are blessed with a superb memory can memorize the whole Quran in less than a year.

I know a guy who did it in 6 months, one in 9 months, one in 10 months, and a couple of more in 11 months, but its just a handful of people who are able to do that. The majority of people need at least 2 years minimum to memorize the Quran properly with tajweed and good revision. most require up to 3 years for all that.

The pro's are that you have memorised the book of Allaah quickly, preventing shaytaan getting in and causing procrastination

The cons are that you may have not have (Allaahu alam) absorbed the meanings

What you have to realise is that the real hard work starts after - maintaining the memorisation, and implementing what you have memorised, otherwise it will speak against you on the day of judgement.

Even people who memorise over 2/3 years don't necessarily understand or reflect on the meaning... That is something which comes from person to person.

                  :jkk:

the idea is to make a 2 year course pre-requisite to a 3 year islamic studies course , the course is suppose to give a person the basics to study further.

                  Quran - tajweed
                  - Hifdh
                  - Written sciences ( Dadb and Rasm)
                  - Basic tafseer

                  Arabic-
                  Nahw
                  Sarf
                  Balaqa
                  Spoken
                  Written

                  Fiqh
                  - Hanbali/Shafi'i Fiqh
                  -Comparative Fiqh
                  -Usool Fiqh

                  Aqeedah
                  - Various books By ibn taymiya
                  - Athari books of aqeedah
                  -Comparative Aqeedah

                  hadith
                  -Usool hadith
                  - Hadith classification
                  -Narrators
                  -various connected sciences

                  roughly that the plan

That looks like a very good plan. Hamza, have you ever thought of taking on some students from the forum? Perhaps you could host a class on Paltalk? Private if you prefer.

Also, how come you write balagha as balaqa? I thought it had ghayn, not qaaf?
