    Assalamualaykum,

Ok so I applied for the "sales advisor" position on Sunday...received a call yesterday from Debenhams saying they'd like toa rrange a telephone interview for today...which I passed, alhamdulillah.

Now they want me to attend a group interview onThursday. Could someone please give me some tips? I'm rather nervous. errr, has anyone on ummah.com actually worked there?

          Re: Debenhams interview

these group interviews are a funny old thing. they ask you stuff like "tell me one person you wouldn't mind interviewing or staying on an island with?"

if you say someone like muhammad ali, gandhi or any religious individual you get shown the door, but if you say someone like "insert overpaid primma donna" and you land yourself a job...how strange...
...and InshAllah i remind myself before i remind others.

the lady that interviewed me..sed i came across as really confident and i'd be better suited to another job that invovles more interaction with customers..she asked me if i had any objections..i was like no! LOL.

abuuu i don't think it's a girls store. they cater for mens and children too. :)

lol I remember having a 'group interview' for a well known department store, we were given a tie and asked to act out scenarios of ways it could be used as something else lol! Was quite hilarious as the people in my group were overacting everything with the crazy scenario we invented :p
                        What does 'freedom' mean?

Does the eagle want to swim in the sea,
                        Restricted by the sky?

Does the fish want to dance on the wind,
                        Not enough river to explore?

Yet the sky is freedom for the bird
                        but death for the fish,

The sea is wide for the fish
                        but will engulf the bird.

We ask for freedom but freedom to do what?
We can only express our nature as it was created.

The prayer mat of the earth is freedom,
freedom from slavery to other than the One,
Who offers an shoreless ocean of love to swim in
and a horizon that extends to the next life,
Yet we chose the prison and call it freedom.
