  • What do you serve your guests ?

    :salams

When you have guests over at home , during non-meal times, say in the evening, what do you serve them to eat and drink ?

I usually give them tea/coffee or mango juice (depending on what they want) and cakes, sandwiches and crisps.

I'd like to know what other people serve to their guests

    1. When they come announced beforehand
    2. When they come unannounced

Looking forward to reading your responses

You give them sandwhiches? Yikes not a good idea. I'd just stick to the coffee/tea and cookies.

I have a habit of overdoing it when i'm expecting guests, 3 course meal sometimes, lol! When unannounced tea and cake, if they don't want tea some sort of fizzy drink/juice.

      Wasalaam :)

Re: What do you serve your guests ?

If coming and they have told me at non meal times I would serve juices/ tea and snacks like fried stuff (samosa etc) cakes, biccies, maybe a cream dessert or something (or indian sweetdish)

If they turn up without notice, prolly drinks/ tea, fruit cakes/ biccies basically whatever is in the kitchen cupboards lol!

Then ask them to stay for dinner
        What does 'freedom' mean?

Does the eagle want to swim in the sea,
        Restricted by the sky?

Does the fish want to dance on the wind,
        Not enough river to explore?

Yet the sky is freedom for the bird
        but death for the fish,

The sea is wide for the fish
        but will engulf the bird.

We ask for freedom but freedom to do what?
We can only express our nature as it was created.

The prayer mat of the earth is freedom,
freedom from slavery to other than the One,
Who offers an shoreless ocean of love to swim in
and a horizon that extends to the next life,
Yet we chose the prison and call it freedom.

Re: What do you serve your guests ?

          classic tea and cake/biscuit
or tea minus the sugar if they're diabetic
or just plain water for the real fussy ones

but yeah, normally something sweet, nothing too over the top.

If it's my parent's guests usually tea and cake or fruit salad..if it's lunch/dinner time then obviously full course meal..

if it's my girls I serve them whatever's in my kitchen! They usually refuse to eat full meals (ugh!) so I just bring out the junk food or whatever it is I know they like. I love guests!

I tend to make Turkish tea depending on who comes. English tea for those who put milk as well. As for desert, stuff like Baklava, Borek, Poaca, pasta or lokum

Pasta is a generic term for foods made from an unleavened dough of wheat or buckwheat, flour and water, sometimes with other ingredients such as eggs and vegetable extracts. Pastas include noodles in various lengths, widths and shapes, and varieties that are filled with other ingredients like ravioli and tortellini. The word pasta is also used to refer to dishes in which pasta products are a primary ingredient. It is usually served with sauce.- Maybe im missing something but its usually a main dish

I'm referring to a different sort of Pasta - A 'turkish' name for a 'turkish' desert
