Re: How to cure being lazy?

    I see...

Then perhaps there is a lot more to your case then I originally thought.

I apologise if I caused offence bro...

I'm not sure who prescribed you with this or why you've been prescribed it... Although I imagine medication for depression isn't good and only creates a new dependency in your lifestyle... Are you sure you'll be able to withdraw from this medication once you felt its done its job?

I had a similar problem of laziness a few years ago and the best cure is trying to be active as much as possible, anti-depressants and medications don't help, in fact they can make you feel worse.

Join a gym, go 2-3 times a week, if thats too much go for regular walks, basically healthy body healthy mind, socialise more with your family and friends and people who will encourage you to be more active and last but not least PRAY salah on time, I must admit I struggle with Fajr in the summer but we MUST read salah properly to gain allah's (swt) help, ask him for help and he will not turn you away :) .

Also talk about the reasons why you're feeling depressed to a family member or friend who will inshallah motivate you to get away from this vicious cycle.

        Good Luck!!

like he above me said, gym or exercise.
make something shocking, recieve pain"but do not harm yourself" watch dead people on the internet or drink something really strong "vinegar" in a big dose.
any of those will awaken your lazy mind

How can I cure being lazy?
5 tips on How to Stop making Excuses:

              1. It all starts with recognizing that your Muslim and it’s an obligation for you to pray. If you miss your prayer make it up, that’s better than not praying at all.

              2. Revolve your schedule around prayer and not the other way around! Salat is a shield against sin, and we are all witnesses to that.

              3. Plan accordingly. If you live near a masjid, go to the masjid and offer Salat with congregation . If you're at work, figure out the Qibla and pick a corner.

              4. It takes 5-10 minutes to pray, depending on your speed. That’s nothing, don’t be fooled into thinking Salat is a big physical workout, if you can hit the gym for an hour then yea. It’s actually a spiritual workout and it is tough, but without sincere effort and consistency, you won’t see any progress.

              5. Reflect on repeated reminders from the Qur’an and Sunnah, “Indeed he will be successful the one who purifies himself. And remembers the Name of his Rabb (Allah), and prays.” (87:14-15)

There you have it, now go play. I mean pray.

                This is from IslamQA:

With all these motives for attaining success and overcoming failure, there remains no excuse for being inactive or lazy. The way is easy and all it requires of you is some determination, will power and wisdom.

Can you imagine not having even an excuse to be lazy? Not even an excuse!

                        Assalamualikum Brother,
I had this problem too, and my solution is first, before atleast 15 minutes before Azan, stop what you are doing, (i.e Watching videos.) and read the Quran, when the Azan calls, go the the Masjid and pray any Sunnah prayers(2 Before Fajr, 4 before and 2 after Duhr, 4 before Asr, 4 before Isha.) and the way I dealt with laziness during prayer is I completely suppress it, it is difficult, but it works.

                          That is offensive, be gentle.

Re: How to cure being lazy?

I used to be extremely lazy as well. To an overly horrible point that I simply wish not to further describe it.

But someday it dawned on me. Performing Allah's orders is the most important thing in the world to do and about the uncertainty of tomorrow. I mean I already knew it as knowledge as a given, but it hasn't until recently firmly implanted into my mind. And ever since then I have been performing my prayers and reading Quran and sorting out other facets of my life. The more days and weeks pass since then. The less prayers I miss until now when I am rarely if ever missing prayers. Nothing special or no kind of event happened to me that led me to this. I just....it happened. Allah saved me. And that is not to say I've made it yet, I still have a long ways to go.

You can do this as well. If changing too many things in your daily life and behavior will lead you to stop doing it later. Then instead of doing everything suddenly, add some activities or something permanently to your daily life bit by bit gradually and before you know it, you'll be a very diligent follower of Allah. Don't wait for some sort of life-changing event to turn your life around. Start with something yourself and the rest should build up.
