  • Entertainment in a Sharia state

So no country at the moment has a form of government that comes close to fully implementing sharia principles.

If such a country did come into being, what forms of entertainment would it have?

Would there be music, poetry, movies (homegrown? western? bollywood?), internet (restricted?), computer games, card games, dancing, feasts, family get-togethers, political discussions, reading (what books?)? Would there be any form of entertainment that would be allowed for men but not for women?

    bump, genuinely interested!

i hear a lot about muslims disagreeing with many entertainments in the west. if i knew your destination, where you want to end up, that is, the perfect systems of entertainment in a sharia state, then I could understand better. Thanks.

Saudi Arabia implements the greatest percentage of Shariah Laws,

There would be No Dancing, Music, Alcoholic drinks, Gambling and the other stuff you named would be under restrictions (ie. no Adultery/Fornication, using and abusing Women to sell products, Blatant shamelessness with regard to dress codes etc,) Publishing of Filthy Books which incite Adultery/Fornication, etc would not be permitted, Bollywood out of the Question, Western Movies would have several restrictions placed upon them, if they are adhered to then they may be permitted.

What do you mean by the above?

all forms of entertainment permitted for Men are also permitted for Women, assuming the dresscodes are adhered to and Segregation of the Genders is in place.

      :jkk: to the Muslimeen.

Okey thanks. So (segregated) sports are good. Would full internet usage be allowed or would it be restricted like China? I don't know if Saudi's internet use is restricted I'm afraid.

safe bet would be to assume internet is restricted.

off course its restricted you cannot go on pornography or vile or violent websites . this should be done to preotect the public from evil.
books such as Harry potter and their like would not be allowed in a sharia state as the book contains magic books that contain aldultry or fornication would not be allowed .

Most certainly do not. I hate Saudi Arabia and their idiot kings, they disgust me. Their laws are backward, exploititative, racist, and hypocritical, plus pro-zionist. Definitely not Shariah!

yeah, ofcourse i respect its inhabitants and recognise Mecca and Madinah are there, but to say that they have the best shariah is a farcial statement.

Yes there would be forms of music, but a different type than what you hear today. Same goes for everything else you said. Dancing of the same gender at wedding is fine and internet would be restricted to avoid pornography. Poetry and beautiful recitations of the Qur'an would be highly prized. Card games is probably no, but Allahu Alim.

I lived in Pakistan for a few years, did my schooling there. We played netball, cricket and badminton. We did performing arts, speech competiions. On eid all the women used to get together and have fun, girlie party, obviously no Haram stuff. There are some really good nasheeds that are without any music and the lyrics are so beautiful.
