  • Highlighting Quranic Verses With Pen

    Asalamu'Alaikum Brothers and Sisters

I have an English and Spanish Quran and when I read it in both languages, I highlight certain verses/ayats, with a bright yellow highlight marker or with a pen. Someone told me that this is haram and that I shouldn't highlight verses in Quran, even if its a translation. I should have a separate note book, where I write the references or a paper inside the Quran where I write the ayats I want to highlight. What is the opinion of the ummah on this forum on the practice of marking or highlighting a Quran translation? Is it haram? Thank you.

    Masalama

      Where are you from?
That’s the worst place to get your fatwa from.
      Try to find somewhere else

Can I ask a sheikh (Abu Musab, the forum's scholar) for you?

And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys."

Do you not see that Allah has made subject to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and amply bestowed upon you His favors, [both] apparent and unapparent? But of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening Book [from Him].

Sure Laila thank you. I asked an imam here in NYC, that told me its OK and that its not haram. But I would appreciate any other opinions from scholars or alims. Thank you.
