  • Would you buy your child a personal computer?

Assalamulikum, would you buy a personal computer for your child? Does computer open a child's thought?

  • #2
I think that technology is very beneficial and I do feel that it helps them learn better in certain areas but I would never want my kids to be obsessed with looking at a screen all day. It's good in moderation but I wouldn't give then their own personal computer. Kids should be playing outside more then watching YouTube videos or playing computer games all day.

      No

I don't have one myself lol

It would be a family computer so everyone will have to share. It will help to use it moderately.

I don't trust computers alone with kids lol or tv

I'll have to monitor them and put all these restrictions and password like child protection etc.

there is no need for a child to have their own, I personally think this spoils children and it's a huge distraction for them

Adults are glued to the screen so do we need to make our children like that too now?

We need to create a balance

I bought a Nokia (brick) phone at 17

This is the funny bit, I didn't want a phone or a laptop for our family- don't know why I was so against it

But it was actually my dad that said I need to get a phone for work so that I can call my parents when I finish work

So I had my brick buddy until my mid twenties

I had some guts to use that in public you know but I like the simple life

Nokia was hassle free and invincible

Children are on ipads since birth. Personal computer sounds better. Keep it in the main family room. Add the necessary restrictions. I probably wouldn't have the internet turned on unless I was sitting with them. We could download apps/programs for them to use offline..

Buy him it and install anti porn tools, and also put opendns in your wifi router and always check his games if theres haram on them, let him use it to learn quran and listen to it,
Once you see porn you are trapped, you will not return youll always know that theres pleasure in that so youll come

Only if you can monitor them and restrict them to educational sites, perhaps through some sort of filtering software

The level of pure filth on the Internet is way past disturbing.

Whatever you do, don't buy your child a smartphone until he's married. With a smartphone, a child can go into a corner and easily watch porn without anybody seeing.

Just buy him a phone which does not have the internet. That is a better alternative.
