Most of this thread looks great. I have to ask about the third pic in your first post though; is that nihari? I've never tried nihari before but am curious.

As for these pics, most of these don't look like they're from Pakistan. Of course I recognise the chana one and the puri one, but the others are not something I'd recognise as breakfasts in Pakistan, especially the one with bacon.

Thaats not Nihari...!!! There's no tomatoes in Niharis..

It's just all the juice that has come out of the meat that has been cooked....!

Niharis probably my favourite Pakistani dish..(Paya is an Indian dish, right?)

And when it is said unto them: believe as the people believe, they say: Shall we believe as the foolish believe? Beware! They indeed are the foolish? But they know not.

Yes, its nihari...though picture is probably not too good to describe this dish.

Many restaurants in Pakistan do offer non-desi breakfasts too, that's not bacon but it is beef piece.

Interesting. Pakistan has really changed in recent years. I last went there 14 years ago and back then apart from places like Pizza Hut and McDonalds, you didn't really hear of foods from other cultures like this being easily available. In more recent years though, there seems to have been a cultural explosion of new varieties of foods from the West. I think in some ways it's cool to introduce people to new foods, but also sad that there's a loss of pride in seeking out some of the old traditional Pakistani food stalls. My cousin said she went to Lahore and tried to look everywhere for katlamme but she couldn't find them anywhere, whereas when she used to live in Lahore back in the 90s, they were widely available. It doesn't seem right that some of the indigenous cultural heritage gets lost in all this- and I do consider these things as part of our heritage.

Beef bacon? That's a new one for me. Never seen anything like it.
