Black tea is fine too if you are IF'ing. But if it gives you hunger pangs then switch to coffee. May be that will be more effective for you.
How many hours are fasting and how long is your eating window?

I have to admit though black tea tastes better than black coffee, black coffee is harder to down

Stick to it, and after a couple of days - you will get used to it and it will taste better In Sha Allaah.
