Evolution - Origin of Life

Deep sea trenches

DEEP SEA TRENCHES AND BLACK SMOKERS BENEATH THE OCEAN

"Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of Creation) before We clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?"

Surah Al-Anbiyaa Surah 21 Ayah 30

"And by the Ocean filled with fire"

Surah At-Tur Surah 52 Ayah 6

"It is He Who has created man from water: then has He established relationships of lineage and marriage: for thy Lord has power (over all things)."

Surah Al-Furqan Surah 25 Ayah 54

In S21: V30 it is said that every living thing comes from water. Life evolved first in water as all scientists agree. Plants conquered the landmasses first and left water and animals followed afterwards. This is something that simple human logic could grasp without any experimental evidence since there is no life without water. Scientists suspected until recently that shallow sweet water ponds must have been the primordial reactors of life. But now they have evidence very different from that and the match between the statement of the verses above and modern scientific evidence is deeper than first thought.

There are so called deep sea vents at the bottom of the ocean at places where the continental plates meet (see G 3). Hot steam or smoke streams out from near these vents, heated by their connection to the earth's mantle, which is very hot and partly liquid molten rock, lava or magma. These ranges can be seen as steadily erupting deep sea volcanoes, but they are rather defined as black smokers (see also G 5). The smoke streaming out is hot, very rich in minerals and nutrients and contains sulphur. Very peculiar life forms live there. The archaeo- or chemobacteria that live on chemical reactions, such as the oxidisation of sulphur, build up the basis of a separate and autonomous ecosystem, which is independent from the light of the sun. When these regions were discovered in the late 1970s some scientists immediately stated that this must be the so called primordial soup, the origin of life, because these types of bacteria are very basic and can live under extreme conditions and high temperatures. Pipeworms feed on these archaeobacteria and these again are food for higher animals like crustaceans and even vertebrate animals such as several species of fish. Nobody would have expected life as deep as 5 km or more. These ecosystems are abundant in the oceans. Truly an oath worth swearing, as in S 52: A 6.

Even we human beings have water in our blood and fibres like animals. More than 80% of our bodyweight is water and it decreases with age and daily towards night-time as well. If we compare the salinity and pH and other chemical, physical and biological factors of the oceans, we will find that they are similar to our blood plasma. The creation of man was different from that of animals; it is referred to several times in the Quran (earth, dust, mud, clay, clot of blood, piece of flesh, sperm, water, see B3).
