Why scientists don't embrace Islam?

There is a significant relation to the crisis that mankind is in. Scientists are biased when looking at the Quran. Human nature is not determined by reason but also by emotion. Satan has spread pride, envy and hatred. These mistakes lead to a communication gap, a total failure of spiritual progress. So both emotion and reason need to be addressed by Muslims.

Despite of the significant scientific proof of the existence of Allah given in the Quran many scientists do not become Muslims. An important reason for the lack of understanding of Islam by the majority of secular intellectuals is the absence of publicity. There is a total suppression of an effective communication by the hypocritical so-called Muslim governments and the secular media. The Muslim countries are busy copying the secular system in order to achieve worldly progress and do not realise that they are in fact diminishing both the successes in this life and the hereafter. They should rather reunite worldly and spiritual education and try to implement it themselves, independently from the overproducing, overconsuming and overpolluting industrial nations:

11. For each (such person) there are (angels) in succession before and behind him: they guard him by command of Allah. Verily never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change it themselves (with their own souls). But when (once) Allah willeth a people's punishment there can be no turning it back nor will they find besides Him any to protect.

Following secular ideas in worldly matters because of the materialistic success of the industry nations will not necessarily improve the situation of a Muslim society, which has a revelation in its hands. The Quran has the answer to every single worldly and spiritual matter and is given by the very Creator himself:

54 We have explained in detail in this Qur'an for the benefit of mankind every kind of similitude: but man is in most things contentious.
55 And what is there to keep back men from believing now that Guidance has come to them nor from praying for forgiveness from their Lord but that (they ask that) the ways of the ancients be repeated with them or the Wrath be brought to them face to face?
56 We only send the Apostles to give glad tidings and to give warnings: but the Unbelievers dispute with vain argument in order therewith to weaken the truth and they treat My Signs as a jest as also the fact that they are warned!
57 And who doth more wrong than one who is reminded of the Signs of his Lord but turns away from them forgetting the (deeds) which his hands have sent forth? Verily We have set veils over their hearts lest they should understand this and over their ears deafness. If thou callest them to guidance even then will they never accept guidance.
58 But your Lord is Most Forgiving Full of Mercy. If He were to call them (at once) to account for what they have earned then surely He would have hastened their Punishment: but they have their appointed time beyond which they will find no refuge.
59. Such were the populations We destroyed when they committed iniquities; but We fixed an appointed time for their destruction

The mistakes of the so-called Muslims will be dealt with later. The scientists and engineers however are getting more and more into a situation in which they are no longer in control of what will be done with their discoveries and inventions. In fact, many are in a moral dead-end and deny any responsibility for the destructive work that can follow their initial discoveries or inventions. This is particularly true in the genetical field where cloning has become a sort of entertainment and competition. The current debate on genetically manufactured food shows the sceptical attitude of the masses. But in fact Allah creates the atoms and molecules in the cells of living beings and the scientists are not creating life but just making copies or just very small changes:

73. O men! Here is a parable set forth! Listen to it! Those on whom besides Allah ye call cannot create (even) a fly if they all met together for the purpose! And if the fly should snatch away anything from them they would have no power to release it from the fly: feeble are those who petition and those whom they petition

And even if physicists put together new Atoms by nuclear fusion, acceleration and division in reactors and particle accelerators, they are still using the quarks, protons and neutrinos provided by Allah, the creator of it all.

But reproducing life is a challenge still to be met, just like reproducing a Surah. Still they are trying and they will keep doing that as well as they torture animals until the Day of Judgement. But there is some benefit in genetical engineering, if the manipulation is kept within limits. For example genetically manipulated bacteria produce human insulin for the healing of the symptoms of diabetes which is inherited:

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: There is a remedy for every malady, and when the remedy is applied to the disease it is cured with the permission of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious.

So seeking for remedies even in genetical manipulation within limits is all right. But nowadays scientists are exceeding limits by competing in who can clone most species without any medical or biological sense! They need guidance.

Scientists have not always been unscrupulous with life. Scientists of the generation before the Second World War had some moral basis like the following two examples will show.

Oppenheimer, being an Ashkenazi (Eastern European/German people converted to Judaism in the 10th century mainly due to political reasons) and physicist was working on the atom bomb in order for it to be used against Hitler's war machine which was persecuting European Jews (and Gypsies, Blacks, Communists, Socialists etc.). His weapon was used against Japan after the Second World War had ended. He was very disappointed by that.

Einstein, an Ashkenazi as well and a physicist who formulated the Theory of Relativity, which enabled Oppenheimer's work, fled from Germany and said: "I don't know how the Third World War will be fought, but the fourth will be fought with Sticks and Stones." That generation of scientists was different from that of today's Hawking and Dawkins. Science has changed and so have the media. They try to keep up an artificial basis of morality without any basis and¼

8 Yet there is among men such a one as disputes about Allah without knowledge without guidance and without a Book of Enlightenment

They may think they are on the right way and that there is no eternal account of what they do but they are worshipping false idols, like money, sex and colour of skin. So did the people of Saaba before guidance came to them:

24. "I found her and her people worshipping the sun besides Allah: Satan has made their deeds seem pleasing in their eyes and has kept them away from the Path so they receive no guidance

But of course, unless they find guidance in this life, their charities are merely for comforting their bad conscience and justifying and covering their big evil:

39. But the Unbelievers their deeds are like a mirage in sandy deserts which the man parched with thirst mistakes for water; until when he comes up to it he finds it to be nothing: but he finds Allah (ever) with him and Allah will pay him his account: and Allah is swift in taking account.

We Muslims often fall for the good character of some nonbelievers. That is Satan's trap. But, however:

8. Allah forbids you not with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.

And the limits for that kind of kindness is:

144 O ye who believe! take not for friends unbelievers rather than believers: do ye wish to offer Allah an open proof against yourselves?.

But who is really a believer or nonbeliever? Are the practising Christians and Jews nonbelievers or believers? We are not to judge:

39. (They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right (for no cause) except that they say "Our Lord is Allah." Did not Allah check one set of people by means of another there would surely have been pulled down monasteries churches synagogues and mosques in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid His (cause); for verily Allah is Full of Strength Exalted in Might (Able to enforce His Will).

62. Those who believe (in the Qur'an) and those who follow the Jewish (Scriptures) and the Christians and the Sabians and who believe in Allah and the last day and work righteousness shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve.

17. Those who believe (in the Qur'an) those who follow the Jewish (scriptures) and the Sabians Christians Magians and Polytheists Allah will judge between them on the Day of Judgement: for Allah is witness of all things.

And there are many passages that actually tell us exactly, what to say to them and how to deal with them. Some Muslim scholar's say that today's Christians and Jews will all go to hell for neglecting the prophecy of Mohammed (peace be upon him). This important aspect can be dealt with in a separate course.

Still the "Western Nations" keep attacking the Muslims. And they are accusing the religions of a total failure while they only perceive the result of centuries of downfall:

5. The similitude of those who were charged with the (obligations of the) Mosaic Law but who subsequently failed in those (obligations) is that of a donkey which carries huge tomes (but understands them not). Evil is the similitude of people who falsify the Signs of Allah: and Allah guides not people who do wrong.

Surah Al-Jamu'a Surah 62 11 Ayahs

They are not thankful for the cultivation of sciences by the Muslim society of the Middle Ages. Without their work knowledge would not have come to Europe. Ancient knowledge of China, Egypt, India and Greece was integrated and united in the Muslim empires and translated into Latin from Arabic and Persian. That happened in Spain (Grenada, Cordoba). At that time all European scholars learned Arabic and copied the literature of eminent Muslim scholars (, so did Bacon, Gallilei, Descartes, Newton, I will give concrete examples in the course) without quoting them or giving the reference..

Nowadays everyone is looking for a high turnover and blames religion for the failure to unite moral values with technological progress. People do that without looking at the original revelation (Quran) but look rather at the people who have failed to implement it properly and lost guidance after one millennium of civilisation. It is very easy to do so.

The thinking of a human being is more than a mere product of reason and intellect even though he may think so. He may think of himself as self-sufficient:

Scientists would like to think that they are completely free from emotions when it comes to looking for the truth. But they are not at all! Many of them are longing for good, but most are as the majority of mankind proud of their race, nation, degrees, class, culture and other worldly values.

7 They know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter.

...But we should know better:

13. O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

So pride of race/racism is a big failure. This is a test, which many Muslims fail as well. Muslims become secular and adopt the thoughts of Western societies. Muslims distinguish between colours and cling on to traditions rather than their religion when it comes to intermarriage. This shows its peak in the treatment of the weak and poor. Muslims are supposed to balance out social injustice by charity but the difference between rich and poor is bigger than ever in our countries. This is a result of centuries of secularisation, reduction of Islamic values to family-law or punishment and replacement of Islamic universities by secular schools and narrow areas of specialisation. Muslims need to learn multidisciplinary, meaning a doctor should know about ecology and an engineer about sociology, etc. Everyone should know as much as possible about everything. And they all should know the Quran.

Also the treatment of animals, like their unnecessary torturing during neurological, pharmacological and medical experimenting is a big sin. But most people, nonbelievers and hypocrites, Muslims non-Muslims and scientists do not want to know about such moral values. Torturing animals:

36. Serve Allah and join not any partners with Him: and do good to parents kinsfolk orphans those in need neighbours who are near neighbours who are strangers the companion by your side the way-farer (ye meet) and what your right hands possess: for Allah loveth not the arrogant the vainglorious;

Deriving from the fact that it is forbidden to let animals fight against each other, we can conclude that our behaviour towards them is a test for us:

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) forbade inciting animals to fight with one another.

Nowadays people describe torture by comparing it to the treatment of animals. For example we heard from refugees during the Kosovo conflict:"They treated us like animals!" It is sad, if they think that animals should be treated like that. We know that many born Muslims are not any better than or different from nonbelievers. Actually there was rather a praising of the Nato than a praising of Allah whenever there was even the slightest trace of hope. This is sad and Muslims were kept out of that conflict. There is more about the failure of Muslims in the next chapter but these few examples are briefly mentioned here because the two topics are interlinked.
Scientists and other intellectuals in the secular societies are nowadays allergic against the true revelation. The reading of the Quran only increases their flight from the truth. That is because Allah punishes them:

7 Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur). 31 32

41. We have explained (things) in various (ways) in this Qur'an in order that they may receive admonition but it only increases their flight (from the Truth)!

60. When it is said to them "Adore ye (Allah) Most Gracious!" they say "And what is (Allah) Most Gracious? Shall we adore that which thou commandest us?" and it increases their flight (from the Truth).

This is the mere definition of the secular system and the warning is present in the Quran:

116 Wert thou to follow the common run of those on earth they will lead thee away from the Way of Allah. They follow nothing but conjecture: they do nothing but lie.

Many of the scientists in the secular system are total nonbelievers. But there are among the atheists those who would like to believe in "God", but all the proofs have been brought up by science and technology against their original form of belief (Catholicism, evangelism, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc.). Therefore their belief is utterly shaken They might be longing for faith (in essay 6 I will explain how many scientists believed in God):

27 Those who disbelieve say: If only a portent were sent down upon him from his Lord! Say: Lo! Allah sendeth whom He will astray, and guideth unto Himself all who turn (unto Him),
28 Who have believed and whose hearts have rest in the remembrance of Allah. Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest!

So they are longing for good, like some of the Christians who are leaving their churches having realised that Jesus is not son of "God", but many of them are too intimidated by Muslims. They cannot be blamed for that because many Muslims are deterring, have a lack of knowledge and tend to be harsh and impatient. It is definitely also due to the ignorance of the Muslims unable to cope with a high level of communication (dawah) and mainly and mostly because Allah guides whom he pleases:

46 We have indeed sent down Signs that make things manifest: and Allah guides whom He wills to a way that is straight.

Therefore Christians very often do not see or even think about Islam as an alternative. Also because they are themselves proud of their origin and think that the lack of worldly success of the Muslims makes them inferior. Jesus was presented to European Christians as a blonde man and they don't see that the first Christians were of a different racial origin as most Muslims are. African Christians on the other hand see the suppression of Muslim women in their continent (circumcision, rape) and the success of the so-called Christian countries. Despite of the enormous ignorance of Muslims who are no longer in a position to warn others according to their responsibility, clear signs can even be denied after they have been sent to an arrogant people:

13 But when our Signs came to them that should have opened their eyes they said: "This is sorcery manifest!"
14 And they rejected those Signs in iniquity and arrogance though their souls were convinced thereof: so see what was the end of those who acted corruptly!

In fact Christians and Jews are afraid of an open communication because their souls may be telling them that the Quran is the truth. And Jews have deviated so far from their origins that they have taken things into their religion which were totally forbidden to them (interests, belief in reincarnation). They in fact have become very similar to Hindus in their arrogance against other people. Our hope lies in the Christians:

82 Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say: "We are Christians:" because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world and they are not arrogant.

There is actually a mass exodus from the churches and the average age of churchgoers is increasing steadily, as well as the average age of the people in the industrial nations in general. Also the philosophical split between intellectuals and the church is increasing. Maybe this is necessary for Islam to be able to spread further. Islam is also the fastest growing religion in the Western world as well as world-wide. Mashallah. The Muslims must be there to make people feel welcome, at the moment they are not enough. But however, that is changing, inshallah:

1 When comes the Help of Allah and Victory
2 And thou dost see the People enter Allah's Religion in crowds
3 Celebrate the Praises of thy Lord and pray for His Forgiveness: for He is Oft-Returning (in Grace and Mercy).

Our mission as the Islamic Forum on Science and Art is not only to show the scientific signs but also to explain them and educate Muslims and non-Muslims about them. It is also to encourage brothers and sisters to actively pursue these values and establish learning as it once was natural among Muslims. The Muslims must evolve as a group and the real values need to gain importance again. We want to establish and propagate the greatness of Allah and the benefits of Islam for mankind in order to establish the unity, which has been lost due to concrete reasons.
