    The Last Prophet?

Just a question here. I know that Muslims strongly believe that Mohammed was the final prophet. In another thread his Last Sermon (beautiful one, I must say) was featured and he states himself that there will be no prophet to follow.

Is there anything in the Quran to back this up? Did God say Mohammed would be the last? I've read every word of the Quran, but I may have missed it somehow, which wouldn't surprise me. I'm wondering about this in relation to early Bahai history and their difficulties.

    Thanks for your expert knowledge!

The following from verse 3 of Surah Al-Ma'idah was the last verse that was revealed by the prophet(SAW):

"This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you as religion al-Islam."

Thus the revelation to mankind was complete, and preserved in the Qur'aan.

"Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers."
    [Surah al-Imran 3:85].

This and the previous verse reminds us that there will be no new prophet bringing anything new.

Bahais are not recognised as muslims.

They say he's the seal of prohpets, but they also said that Jesus would come back with another prophet(NOT Mohammad). Therefore he can't be the last prophet.

    Roke,

I think you are mixing that with al-mahdi and the return of Isa (SAW).

Al-Mahdi not a prophet but a future Khalifah predicted by some hadiths.

Isa(SAW) will return, not as a prophet, but as a messianic figure to destroy the Dajjal (anti-christ), and to invite all nations to Islam.

Thus there will be no new prophet, bringing a new revelation.

there is also another verse from the Holy quran with respect to this issue:

Muhammad(SAW) is not the father of any of your men,but he is the Messenger of Allah and the last of the Prophets. And Allah is Ever All Aware of every thing.(surah Ahzab or the Confedrates, verse 40)

[QUOTE]They say he's the seal of prohpets,

Roke who are "they". This is the belief of Ahmedis / Qadianiees not of the muslims.
Any person who does not believe that Mohammad (S.A.W.)is the last prophet is not a muslim.
Isa (A.S.) will return but not as a new prophet but as a follower of Mohammad (S.A.W) and he will say his prayer behind Al- Mehdi the Muslim caliph of that future time.
My friends muawiyah and Sultan have already given the referances from Quran.
There are numorous ahadees on this issue .
May Allah guide us to the right path.

I believe that Muhammed, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is the seal of The Prophets; the final Prophet from Allah.
What I do not understand is this Al- Mehdi stuff. Would someone be able to direct me to the complete information that would be in context?
    Thank you,
    abdamary/mary.

It is true, may Allah save us, that Ahmedis or Qadyanis say the prophet is khatam al nabiyyeen, meaning he is the SEAL of the prophets... They thus conclude that there could be a prophet after the prophet Mouhammad and they claim their Ahmad bin Ghoulam Qadyani is that prophet....

However, the prophet did mention VERY clearly in many many of his sayings that there is no prophet after the prophet Mouhammad........

and that is the belief of every muslim.
