There are a few posters here whose limited knowledge of Islam allows them to do nothing more than spout hatred and vitriol. They would be the ones who would benefit more by listening to Hamza Yusuf - but of course they don't want to hear any view that contradicts their hatefilled bigotry. At least more and more Muslims are now waking up and isolating such people.

A special evening with Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and Brother Abu Muntasir
reflecting on recent events and examining ways forward for Muslims
in the UK as we strive towards uniting as a community. The event will
be chaired by Dr Usama Hasan.
* Shaykh Hamza Yusuf Hanson was born in Washington State and raised
in Northern California. He accepted Islam in 1977 and subsequently
travelled to the Muslim world, studying for ten years in the UAE,
Saudi Arabia, as well as North and West Africa. He received teaching
licenses in various Islamic subjects from well-known scholars. After
ten years of studies abroad, he returned to the USA and took degrees
in Religious Studies and Health Care. He later founded the Zaytuna
Institute. He was the first American lecturer to teach in Morocco's
oldest University, the Kairoiuin in Fez. He has also translated a
number of classical Arabic texts and poems into English. He currently
resides in Northern California with his wife and four children.
** Abu Muntasir Ali is perhaps one of the most competent all round
speakers in the UK. He is currently the president of Jam'iat Ihyaa
Minhaaj As-Sunnah, a charity based in Ipswich, and is a Software
Engineer by profession. Br Abu Muntasir has been involved in da'wah
initiatives across the UK for over 20 years and has extensive
experience in both teaching and Muslim social affairs. As a pioneer
in the field of grassroots Islamic development, who is also well
travelled abroad, he has introduced a number of speakers who are
now well known in the UK. When many of today's vocal 'activists'
were crawling in their nappies, Abu Muntasir strived to raise the
word of Allah high. As a dedicated father of several children, he
makes time to organise the annual JIMAS conference in Leicester,
delivers lectures on a variety of relevant topics, and offers
sensible and practical advice to those who seek it.
****Hafiz Dr. Usama b. Suhaib b. 'Abdul Ghaffar Hasan holds an MA in
Theoretical Physics and a PhD in Artificial
Intelligence from the Universities of Cambridge and
London respectively. He is a Hafiz (preserver) of the
Qur'an (its letters, but not its limits) and has an
ijazah for the Hadith collections of Bukhari and
Muslim through his father (Shaykh Shuaib Hassan) and grandfather. He has
served as voluntary imam, khatib and Arabic teacher at
various mosques in London and Cambridge for the last
18 years. His published translations from Arabic into
English include Imam al-Ajurri's Character of the
People of the Quran, The Concise Legacy and Tolerance
Within Islam, both by Imam Ibn Taymiyyah, and The
Prophet's Prayer Described by the late Shaykh
al-Albani. After five years working as a neural
networks / data mining consultant in UK industry
(including the development of an Automatic
Number-Plate Recognition System that is deployed on
some UK motorways and A-roads), Dr. Usama is currently
Senior Lecturer in Computing Science at Middlesex
University (London) and Visiting Associate Professor
at the National University of Science & Technology
(Islamabad, Pakistan).

Friends House is a Quaker Meeting and community house, I have stayed there often when in London. It will fit plenty of people!Salams

A "Friend" is a Quaker, the religion is called the "Religious Society of Friends" the common name is Quaker - long story.
I wish I could come but I'm currently in the wrong continent. I know some Friends (and friends) who will be there too. Please tell us how it went!

It fell on hard times financially and they were going to close it a couple of years ago! I think it got solved by finally charging money for use. It has always been available to share for non violent cuases, but they now have to charge. Also it is serving less as a cheap hotel for bums like me!

Not to mention that should it ever be up for sale I think a few Muslims have their eye on itI really like the building, and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming...and generous! (especially when it comes to timings and finishing up events etc
