Habib Ahmad Mashur al-Haddad's Key to the Garden is an excellent book on Tawheed.

    Qadi Iyad's Ash-Shifa

Marting Lings : Muhammad - His life based on its earliest sources [apart from a couple of mistakes it is the best read as far as Sirah in English]

As for Tafseer - I recently bought Ma'ariful Qur'an's eight volumes for 60 quid from kitaabun.com - its excellent.

    Wasalam.
j/k bro, im gonna look into that.

I got the name of one of the books I previously talked about:

    Sheikh: Mohammad AlGazali
    Book: AlSounah AlNabaweya

It has a chapter on women related ruleings in islam .

Ill told my mama to look for the other ones author I got the name it's:

Tahreer AlMara Fe AlIslam (Womens freedom in Islam).

I should point out that these Shaikes are AlAzhar first-class graduates, and everything is built on Daleils.

    salaams all,

ma'ariful qura'an in english is probably the best tafseer in english, its a must read for all! n the same tafseer in urdu by mufti shafee usmani, not the maulana idrees kandelvi one is good aswell. not sayin the maulana idrees one is bad or netin but its a bit hard to get to grips with while the mufti one is simple.

    some good books in english:
all harun yahyas books r good
The legal status of following a mathab (mufti taqi usmani)
the chief sins (not sure of the author)
    mathnawi (imam rumi)

    some in arabic:
    al kaba'ir (imam thahabi)
wasailul wusool ila shamail-ar-rasool (dunno th author)

You mst be very careful while reading Harun Yahya's smooth writings. He has made many mistakes, which makes me think: hmm

I would recommend, Return of the Pharaoh: Memoir in Nasir's Prison; Zainab Al-Ghazali (She's not related to either Imam Al Ghazali or Sheikh Mohammed Al Ghazali) - the President of the Muslim Ladies Group, the sisters branch of the Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen group.

It's fascinating - whether you personally agree with the Ikhwaan or not, the book is not at all political.

Yeah, i have the ibn Sireen one, ibn Sireen was a Tabi'een, that fact alone is enough to buy that book, but make sure you get the authentic version, there are a few going about and some have chapters in them that are not related to him.

If you can read urdu, they usually have loads of such books on dream interpretations.

here's a passage from the above book

chapter- Yajuj and Majuj are human beings

Abu Sa'id said that the messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, " Allah Almighty will say on the Day of Rising, 'Arise , Adam and bring forth those among your offspring who are for the fire.' He will ask, ' O lord. who are those who are for the fire?' Allah will reply, ' Nine hundred and ninety-nine of every thousand are for the fire and one is for the Garden.'

Then children will become white-haired and 'every pregnant woman will abort the contents of her womb. you will see people drunk, yet they are not drunk but the punishment of Allah issevere.' (22:2) They said, "Messenger of Allah, is that 'one' from among us?" The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace , said. "Rejoice in the good news that there is one of you for every thousand of Yajuj and Majuj."

From My Sisters' Lips by Na'ima B. RobertJust reading it at the moment and a brilliant book MashaAllah. Would be very helpful to muslims as well as non-muslims as it shows how women of the modern age are attracted to Islam. I'm a brother but I too found it inspiring refreshing. I recommend everyone goes out and buys it and lends it to non-muslims and muslims alike. I found several copies at Waterstones so you should be able to get your hands on a copy pretty easily.

    Well this is the intro...

    Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /><O:P> </O:P>
Catching sight of a Muslim woman, covered from head to toe, on Western city streets rarely fails to provoke a strong reaction. Feelings of shock, horror, repulsion or pity are not uncommon, especially upon seeing this strangest of sights for the first time. Comments range from the patronising (“Poor woman, doesn’t she know she’s in England now, she doesn’t have to dress like that?”), the insulting (“It makes me sick to see them dressed like that!”) to the ridiculous (“I bet she looks like a dog under there!” or, the universal favourite, “NINJA!”)<O:P> </O:P>

Without doubt, the assumption is that this poor woman was forced by her husband or family to dress as she does, that she is an uneducated immigrant who probably speaks little or no English or that, steeped in ignorance, she has yet to experience the delights of Western freedoms. She is, in essence, desperate to be liberated.<O:P> </O:P>

Such is the common perception of this woman, who remains faceless, nameless and voiceless – a non-person.<O:P> </O:P>

But what if this woman had a name, what if she had a voice? What if she could tell you about herself, her history, her family, her thoughts and feelings? What if, by sharing herself with you, you grew to see beyond the exterior, beyond the veil, and see for yourself in what ways you are alike and in what ways you are different?<O:P style="MARGIN: 0px"> </O:P>

Knowledge and intelligence leads one who possesses it to do good acts and prevents him from evil.

Ignorance on the other hand, calls the one who is ignorant to conform to his desires, even if it is harmful to him.

ok, as u know at the moment im reading Stories of the Prophet by Ibn kathir, i have 2 questions:

(im reeading about Moses at the moment)

ok, who are the chldren of Israel? are they the jews?

also wen moses asked Allah swt that who is the Ummah that has these attributes belong (e.g a list of attributes was given by Allah swt that a certain ummah will have) moses wanted HIS ummah to be this specific ummah but Allah swt said no, this ummah belongs to Ahmed.

who is Ahmed? and is this ummah the Muslims or some other ummah?

who is Ahmed? and is this ummah the Muslims or some other ummah?

Ahmed is also one of the names of the prophet (saw)

Al Ghazali's inner Dimensions of worship

    and i just it
Knowledge and intelligence leads one who possesses it to do good acts and prevents him from evil.

Ignorance on the other hand, calls the one who is ignorant to conform to his desires, even if it is harmful to him.

It's an interesting book, especially the last chapter. It's a bit boring, so don't feel bad about being distracted <--- (Green face for the green cover )
