    Re: Qasidah Burdah ~

One of the most beautiful poems ever. Love for rasoolallah :saw is very important.

Its not shirk at all btw so please stop accusing.

The Prophet said "Verily, I fear about a man from you who will read the Qur'an so much that his face will become enlightened and he will come to personify Islam. This will continue until Allah desires. Then these things will be taken away from him when he will disregard them by putting them all behind him and will attack his neighbour with the sword accusing him of Shirk. The Prophet was asked - which of the two was commuting Shirk - the attacker or the attacked. The prophet replied - the attacker (the one accusing the other of Shirk).
The classification of this Hadith is Jayyid. (Tafseer ibn Kathir; Vol. 2 p265, Amjid Academy, Lahore Pakistan)

One of the benefits stated for reading/listening to Burdah is that one will see the NUR (splendour) of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam, if read regularly.

Ask me how I know this personally to be accurate!

    Re: Qasidah Burdah ~

I have nothing against Qasidah burdah but have a lot against MUSIC! It's a bit funny (in a sad way) and hypocritical to claim to love rasulullah SAW and do this out of love but then use music which he SAW clearly prohibited. (quranic verses also prove its forbidden)

It's like a friend telling you how much he hates certain thing, warns you against it but then you go get him that "thing" as a gift for him ...

Even in the hanafi madhab the duff can only be used in certain occasions, for weddings, in battle and i think one other occasion. You cant use it when reciting praise for the prophet SAW.

Br. Abu Rambo ^^ that's a free one.

Br. MW: The daff is permissible and I've not encountered a scholar who objected to the use of a daff in singing qasaid/anasheed.. have sat in many a majlis of ulema where they were sung with accompanying daff. If you don't like it don't listen simple, but don't accuse people of hypocrisy and engaging in the prohibited, because that's false, insulting and just shows an eagerness to criticise and censure even where it is not called for. If you disappove of it and do so based on the differing opinion of scholars, then fair dos since valid difference of opinion is accepted and tolerated, live by what you follow and let others live by what they follow.

    Re: Qasidah Burdah ~

The poem is beautiful and it praises our Rasool SAW. But unfortunately the how it came into being is the problem here. The creator of this poem said he saw Nabi kareem in a dream. I do not refute that. But getting a physical piece of cloth is not something that happens. Its an addition. Muslims all over the world recited the Burdah only because they normally take anything related to Rasool SAW without ever thinking twice. Because of deep devotion and love to him.

    Re: Qasidah Burdah ~

Muslims believe in the karamat of the awliya and it is not at all difficult to believe that Imam Busiri (rh) woke up with the cloak over him, and indeed those around him witnessed that he had regained the ability to walk and saw the cloak.

And Qasida Burda is accepted.. and the fact that it is recited by Muslims throughout the world, regularly in gatherings, out of love and for cure, is memorised, and so loved by the ummah is a testament to that.

When an innovation has been so deeply embedded into the fabric of Muslim society such as, it's not surprising that we have views such as these.

Innovation is innovation regardless of the numbers partaking in it.

Back to the point of the thread:

Here's a link to the AMAZING recitation of The Fez Singers

    Click for the audio sample

Their full recital can be found on the Burda book and CD set produced by Shaykh Hamza, it is gorgeous and comes with 3 CD's with the Fez Singers singing all the chapters of the Burda and a hardbook book with the Arabic calligraphy done by the American master calligrapher Mohamed Zakariya and a translation of the poem by Shyakh Hamza.

    Excellent quality

Reciting this poem is an act of worship for those who choose to. The Prophet (may Allaah (azza' wa jal) grant him peace) was clear in the acts of worship and left nothing out.

    Shaykh Ibn Ba'az (rahimahullaah) related the following;
"The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) warned us, according to the report narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim, ‘Do not praise me as the Christians praised ‘Eesa ibn Maryam, I am the slave of Allaah and His Messenger.’ Rather the way to venerate him and love him is by following his Sunnah and establishing his religion and rejecting all the myths that the ignorant attribute to him. But most of the people do not do this, and they occupy themselves with this exaggeration and praise which leads them to commit major shirk.”
In this case, innovating in the matter of venerating the Prophet (may Allaah (azza' wa jal) grant him peace). To show our reverence of the Prophet (may Allaah (azza' wa jal) grant him peace), we follow his Sunnah without falling into extremes.

Other than parroting the Wahabi slurs against the Burda, do you know what you are actually talking about.
Who's the one slurring by degrading one of the names of Allaah (azza' wa jal)?
In any case your slurs are not welcome in this thread which is for admirers of the Burda so do us a favour..
This is a munkar and it is the duty of any Muslim to warn people away from such shirk. Whether you choose to accept my advice is left for you to decide but remember Islaam is not a faith of ha'wa and their are many imperssible things which our hearts desire.

    Re: Qasidah Burdah ~

    1. The hadith you quoted is itself referred to in the Burda by Imam Busiri rahimullah, who says:

Leave aside what the Christians said about the Prophet-
Then praise him as you like, but do so wisely.

Ascribe to his essence what you wish of honour-
Attribute to his exalted status what you will of greatness!

Truly, the Messenger of God's bounty -
Cannot be overstated by two lips and a tongue.

SubhanAllah! May Allah (swt) raise the rank of Imam Busiri (rh) for the sake of His beloved Rasool

He had a better grasp of the hadith you quoted than you do.

    2. See this, there is no degradation of a name of Allah (swt), a'udhobillah. The term is a appellation derived from the same word, anyone who knows anything about language would know words being derived from others is natural and not degragation nor forbidden. It's a nonsensical argument.. and if it were the case it should extend outside this context, every and any single word that is related to any of the names of Allah (swt) would be degradation and forbidden to use, and even you can see that would be illogical.

    3. There is no shirk in the poem, so what you are doing is not warning people, but speaking falsehood about something you don't know about.
