Do 'hanifs' still exist, what does the Quran say about them?

During jahiliyah there were believers known as 'hanif' who were neither Christian nor Jewish but generally Abrahamic monotheist.*

Most eagerly embraced Islam - but did any refuse, and if so, what happened to them? Were they regarded as heretics or hypocrites?

In Indonesia we sometimes have "old believers" - originally Hindus who became Abrahamic monotheist and rejected paganism, but never formally joined Islam or Christianity. Does Islam say anything about these "monotheists of no religion"?

    Question someone, somewhere once asked;

“I saw a person saying that living with one's in laws is haraam imitation of the kuffar, is this correct?”
If you were in the clouds, Allah would raise us to you or lower you to us for battle.

said this to the Byzantine troops when they retreated from the battle field to the fortified town of Chalcis.

    Assalamualikum Sheikh,

Sheikh some Erdogan fanboys have been claiming that
Erdogan was lying to reconcile the people, in claiming he will protect the legacy of the disgusting Kaafir known as Atartuk,

    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/we-...erdogan-122240

Can you elaborate on the permissibility of lying to reconcile between people and if this applies to what Erdogan said,

    Son?
You think you know more than my scholar's qiyās? He was more learned than you and all other scholars combined. Yeah, the devil was the greatest scholar too and look where his qiyās of fire being better than tīn got him. Sorry.

You follow your scholar's qiyās, and I will follow the Qur'ān and Sunnah.

    Regarding Sunnah and wudu

If the Prophet sometimes washed his limbs once, sometimes twice and sometimes three times, then why is doing it three times preferred?

If I recall the class incorrectly and the Prophet always washed three times and never once or twice, then why are the other two considered Sunnah?

I was having a discussion about imitating the kuffaar and one sister told me that if an action is found in Islam, it can never be considered imitating. If an action or practise is not found in Islam but is not haram in any way and you do it, then one day that same practise starts trending with non believers, you need to drop it immediately.

I said not necessarily, as it didn't begin with you copying them.

She replied that now you're associated with them though through this action or practise.

Example might be when a man has Sunnah length hair and ties it (practically), in a top knot. So now his look is trending with non-believers.

Can the enemy of my enemy be a 'friend'?

Not a friend per se but possibly a temporary alliance against a common cause?

Re: LIVE Q&A With Abu Mus'ab - Thursday 16th November 2017 7:45 PM UK TIME

Another question resulting from a discussion:

Someone said that listening to certain kind of anashid are not beneficial for them personally as it uses rap or something else that is a similar sound to music, albeit not music.

Then someone else said that if the lyrics are glorifying Allah subhana wa ta'ala and there are no instruments in it, you should not boycott the nasheed as you're making something halal into something haram.

I said that boycotting was a strong term and that the person is simply finding some anasheed unhelpful for them personally.

The person then replied that if a nasheed isn't using music and is about Islam, then it can't in any way be considered unhelpful and we shouldn't say that as it was bordering on innovation.

Can you sort this out please?

Re: LIVE Q&A With Abu Mus'ab - Thursday 16th November 2017 7:45 PM UK TIME

One or 2 years ago you mentioned in a qa sometimes rasulullah saw would advise Sahaba ra based on their capabilities an example was rasulullah saw would recommend different amount of sadaqah from different Sahaba so they would not regret giving too much later while other such as any bakr ra would give higher because they were stronger or superior in their status

Can the same be said about this two example

There is a hadith with where asma ra got a servant or slave from her father abu bakr ra and she said
My father pleased me so much by sending the servant that I felt as if I was freed from slavery

Then there's the famous narration where Fatima ra requested a slave but rasulullah saw advised her to continue the way she is living and revealed the tasbih to recite

Can we say that rasulullah saw knew his daughters capability and hence he chose the harder way of life for her so she can get more reward compared to the case of asma ra

There are narration in hadith book such as sahih al bukhari which is not relating to a saying of Muhammad saw but rather of a event that happened in the time of Sahaba ra should we still call them hadith

Re: LIVE Q&A With Abu Mus'ab - Thursday 16th November 2017 7:45 PM UK TIME

Is this a authentic narration and which book was it narrated in

Imaam Al-Faakihi**reported on the authority of ‘Amr bin Shu’ayb, who reported from his father who reported from his father that he (‘Amr’s grandfather) said: “The Prophet**sent ‘Itaab bin Usayd as a leader for the people of Makkah and said to him:*“Do you know where I am sending you? I am sending you to the people (dear to) Allah. There is no city dearer to Allah - the Almighty, the Glorified - and to myself than this city, and had it not been that its people forced me out of it, I would never have left it.”

Today is the anniversary of a large, devastating fire at Kinds Cross Station. People hold memorial services and remember the people who died and the emergency services that managed the situation.

Is there anything that prohibits this practice in Islam or are there examples where past wars and disasters were remembered?

If a person invests their money by purchasing a house and the price of that house increases over time, is it permissible to accrue money in this way?

Doesn't make a difference if the home is kept and never sold? Does it become an issue only when the house is sold?

    Jazakallahu khuyr

I'm struggling to separate an Islamic wedding from a cultural one. Can you tell me what an Islamic wedding was like at the time of the Prophet Ṣallallāhu ′alayhe wa ′ālehe wa Ṣaḥbehe wa sallam.
