No Energy, No commitment , No ambition, only 20

    Salaam aleikum brothers and sisters,

I've been going through a rough phase for the past few years of my life and am looking for some advice.
I've had severe social anxiety since a young age and it has taken alot of effort for me to overcome it, but even then i feel very disillusioned.

In the past year I've been rejected by over 30 different work placement/jobs and my university sports team and feel a lot of my friends are turning their back on me. Even though I can feel confident I still struggle to socialize - especially with groups of people.

It got worse a day ago, we had an election for a position i really wanted to run for. I put in a lot of effort last year into getting this position but instead, it was given to a guy who didn't do squat last year >

Recently I find it hard to summon up the energy to do literally anything. That is why i want to ask for your help - I've been trying to work on myself as a muslim for the past few months (even started learning arabic) but I still feel lonely and empty. I desperately need something that can turn my life around inshallah.

Of course this post isn't all about me, if anyone else feels the same way plz share!

I wouldnt worry too much about uni roles... but since u r at uni, how well r u doing with getting first class degree?
What were your grades like in the previous years?
Have you had your CV reviewed by a specialist at your uni?

The fact you are still trying to elect yourself for roles that require a level of interaction with others sounds like you are doing well and your anxiety is under control. So dont give up to thoughts, and keep going, and try to understand why 30 places refused to employ you... they dont know about your anxiety, so try to find what that is...

All your failures/disappointments are linked to matters of this world. Nobody will care who what position-X meant at the university 30 years from now (is running for such a position even halaal?).

Take the disappointments of the dunya as an opportunity to focus on the aakhirah.

The more you remember that "the life of a mu'min is like that of a nomad", the more you will realize how little matters of the dunya mean.

    Allahu A'lam.

    W/salaam,

you are learning Arabic. That's a great start! Try other stuff that may interest you. If there are people from Arabic maybe meet up with them. Travel. Put yourself on a course, learn a skill, get a job. You are only 20 so start now and in sha Allah this time next year you'll be in a much better situation. You can also look into apprenticeships, they have all sorts available now.

You'll be alright, its just a passing moment in your life.

We all go through stages like this. Stay positive, chin up, and keep striving. You'll be just fine.
