    Umrah November 2017

    Assalamualaikum,

I'm in sha Allah intending to book a DIY Umrah for 11-25th November for 3 adults. Works out a good £1k cheaper than price quotes I have received. Has come out as £3300 for hotels and plane tickets for 5* hotels outside the harm, Alhamdulillah (needed for the parents :-) )

Wanted to ask a few questions....

    1) Who can I sort the visas out with? And when? I'm based in the north, close to Leeds.

    2) As I will need to sort out my own transport from Jeddah to Makkah, and then Makkah to Media. Can someone give me an idea of taxi prices for Jeddah-Makkah, and taxi/bus prices for Makkah to Medina.

    3) I was going to go Saudi Airlines in sha Allah. How do I bring Zam Zam water back? I read that Check in luggage is 23kg only.

    Would appreciate any help possible.

    Jazakumullah khayr

Assalamu alaikum brother, you buy ZamZam at the airport, there's a kiosk outside Jeddah Airport. For every passport you get a 5 litre bottle which is prepackaged and boxed. For taxis someone suggested that Uber or their is another Uber like App called Careem which are both good options. With Careem you can pre book. For Visas I know a few places in London one is called Prince Visas. They have a website you can check. I'm not sure of any agents up north. Insha-Allah I'm doing a DIY umrah in January 2018 and like you said I was saving well over £1500 on what the travel agents were quoting me for 2 weeks for 2 adults & 1 child. May you have a blessed and rewarding Umrah Insha-Allah.

    Re: Umrah November 2017

    Salaam,

I am going Early December and booked my flights and hotels myself. I am traveling on Saudi Airlines from Manchester and need to sort visas out.

I live in Leeds so lets keep in loop and will let you know if I could find any visa agent up north.

    Thanks

I believe his visa charge is the cheapest from majority of the agents.

Sounds good to me in sha Allah.

I'm about to book Saudi Airlines as well in sha Allah.... ~£500 per ticket.

It's £100 cheaper with other airlines, but would prefer to make it as easy as possible for the parents, so direct to Jeddah is good for me.

Where did you book hotels from? And how much? If you go on Hotels.com, they have good deals on, and if you book 10 nights through them, they give 1 night free which you can use on a future holiday. Did my Makkah hotels from Hotels.com. Did Medina hotel from Booking.com. Room of 3 for 14 nights came out at £1800 Alhamdulillah.

I've rang Prince Visas. They are saying they won't have anything through from Saudi until 1st October so they can't tell me anything until then.

Yep that's what I found .... But I know that when you go through, sometimes a random fee can be added on, hence why I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up at ~£500

I'm happy with it :-) .... Compared to what agents are offering, and what hotels are with the placing, and the full cancellation refund option etc etc, Alhamdulillah :-)

Swissotel is good price Millenium Taibah can beat that price Alhumdulilah.
I always tell my customers not to commit online booking till I check with my suppliers.
Last time saved someone £500 from online booking and that included my profit as well.

What quote can you get for Medina hotel? Booking.com didn't actually have much choice around it. I've currently got it at £512 for Millennium Taiba.
I'm looking at 4 nights (Thursday 16th to Monday 20th). Breakfast included. 4-5* hotel. Up to 5 minutes or so walk is fine.

    Sorry for late reply..

I have searched and booked hotels on hotels.com and booked Marwa al Rayhaan which is next to the building to the hotel you booked. Havent booked for Medina yet but will book soon.
Makkah is costing me £540 for two adults and 2 kids as I am only staying for 5 nights.

I tried ringing few agents but no one has started doing Umrah visas and advising me to ring back late Oct or Early Nov.
How you planning to travel from Jed airport to Makkah and then Makkah to Medina ?

    Regards,

    Regards,
Marwa Rayhaan Alhamdulillah is very good. Went there for my Hajj package.

I just checked on Hotels.come and prices for Swisotel has come down by £28 so have rang them up and they they have refunded the amount.
Marwa Rayhaan for 3 Adults is a good £200 on top for 10 nights stay.

Also recommend 3 things with regards to Visas/Travelling which I picked up from a Muslims sister called "MuslimTravelGirl". She specialises a lot in DIY Umrahs. You can google her.

    1) Use PrinceVisa for your visas. If you mention "MuslimTravelGirl", you can get a 20% discount. I rang them and they said they won't know anything till Oct 1st at earliest.
    2) Taxi from Jeddah airport to the hotel can range between 150 - 350 SAR (£30-70) depending on the timing, how good you are at haggling and peak periods.
    3) From Makkah to Madinah, take the VIP SAPTCO Bus. It costs around £35 return. Ensure you book the VIP service and not regular. Buy tickets from Makkah Coach Station.

I think it depend on the days we are travelling as Swisotel is £200 up for 5 nights. Another reason could be that I am adding 2 Children in the booking, although most of the hotels policy on Hotels.com is that children under 12 years can stay for free ( I am travelling with 4 years old and 6 months old) but if i add children in the search the rate changes. MArwa RAyhaan is the only hotel who's rate dosent change by adding 2 kids so i might stick to it.

Thanks for the advise, I will check MuslimTravelGirl blogs.

What dates are you travelling? £200 for 5 nights is a bargain!

    Re: Umrah November 2017

So Alhumdulillah my parents and I are going for Umrah in Nov end Inshallah.

Regarding the Millennium Hotel (former Hilton) in Makkah, I wanted to share that if you book on your own, two tips:

    - Check the Millenium hotel website itself as well as the standard booking.com site. I found booking offered a "Family Room" with breakfast refundable ($199), but the hotel site of Millennium itself showed more options ie Family Room with breakfast non-refundable option ($165). Booking generally shows this option for hotels as well, but evidently not in all cases. The non-refundable option was about $35 cheaper.

    - Secondly, the Millennium site has an option for enrolling in Memberhip Rewards points. When you book from the Millennium site after logging in, some of the rates show an extra 5-10% off due to various "member" rate options. My $165 non-member price became $149 member price (non-refundable).

So - check the hotel site for best fare option and for membership rewards' lower rates for free folks.

    Not yet.
But will be sending to my usual travel agent for it - already spoke with him about it.
I travel late Nov. He said he'd hold off on submitting for visa until late as possible is the off chance the SR2000 get's waived / changed the way it did last year. He said likely not happening, but no harm in waiting; i agreed.
