    LIVE Q&A With Abu Mus'ab - Thursday 4th May 2017 8:30PM UK TIME

Depending on how this QA turns out, there may be another QA session before Ramadhan begins. Otherwise the next QA will be after eid.

This thread is made well in advance, so you have more than enough time to pose your questions before the next program, just in case you forget it.

If you have more then one question please don't post it all in one post, spread it out with different posts unless it is co-related/related

You can also send in extra questions live on thursday on skype: Skype name: ummahradio

Is it permissible to use a tuning fork for vocal harmonies or is this considered to be an instrument as it makes a sound/produces a note?

I don't read fiction (only because i never really have) but a sister asked me about whether it is the same as watching TV because of the images. Those on TV you would see and those conjured up in your imagination from the words on the page. (My addition) would that also apply to plays, seen and heard?

Bullet Journalling incorporates future events and plans of events. How is it permissible to make plans and think of the future when those days are not yet ours? Is it simply adequate that we remember Allah (swt) when making and recording any future events?

On the concept of martyrdom how is it that a person is allowed to speak kuffar or shirk (apologies if I've got the words wrong) in a situation if our life is being threatened? Is it better to speak the truth and die in faith as a martyr?

Are we permitted to put emphasis on the words of Allah (swt) for the purpose and ease of communication?

Examples such as emboldening certain sentences for emphasis, using colour to highlight certain sentences or words and posting verses devoid of their context?

Water can intoxicate when drunk in large quantities
So why is it not khamr?

'Every intoxicating substance is haraam, and whatever intoxicates in large amounts, a handful of it is haraam.’” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, al-Ashribah, 1789; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 1521).

The Quran says that "anyone who has an
atom's worth of goodness will see it and anyone who has done an atom's worth of evil will also see it" (Quran 99:7- 8)

Does this mean anyone including non believers? What about the goodness in non believers?

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته Sheikh

What is the ruling on the one who says music is Halaal, says that it's just a misunderstanding that we think it's Haraam?

Is there that making Halaal what Allah عز و جل and his messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم made Haraam, or is the individual just a Deviant?

A certain individual has claimed that Musa عليه السلام and his followers were following the Religion of Judaism, and he claims it's a fact,

    Is this not borderline Kufr?

And this individual has been reasoned with several times,

    From islamqa

Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in Majmoo‘ al-Fataawa (4/186): The Hanbalis followed in the footsteps of the salaf (scholars of early generations) and followed their path, unlike others. End quote

I was taught in Christianity that your right hand should not know what your left hand is doing, with regards to charity and good deeds, but mostly charity. Is this the same in Islam that if others know of your good efforts then you have reaped your reward (human praise) on earth so don't expect one in the hereafter?

When faced with two difficult choices, both involve small elements of wrongdoing that you have no choice over. Is it okay to decide what the lesser harm would be or is it always essential to get a scholarly opinion on each situation?

A sister (not me) knows two other sisters with children who struggle financially. One woman works part time and really does her best to provide on her own with no support from family. The other woman has money from her ex husband but she seems to spend unnecessarily on designer shopping and ends up at the food bank.

Is it right to judge between these families when thinking of giving financially to them or should a person who wants to give to the poor, just give, no matter what the situation?

Is it okay for a woman to express to her husband that she only wants, maybe two children? I realise he can make a decision that is different to his wife's but my question is, is it wrong for her to make such an expression. Is it ungrateful to Allah (swt)?

Is it permissible for men to have a gold crown placed onto teeth?

Two things I've seen brothers do during salah:

Rafa' yadayn Whilst sitting in second rakat just before standing up.

Momentarily sitting before standing up after sajdah in first and third rakaat.

Are these two actions part of the sunnah?

In wudu, should we wash our feet with our left hand or right hand? Or using both? Or are all those okay?

Is it correct for a Muslim to think "Allaah loves me" (or to say to other Muslims "Allaah loves you")? Or is this something one should not do (because he cannot know for sure) but instead hope that Allaah loves him (think good of his Lord) and also at the same time fear His wrath/punishment (i.e. combining hope and fear)? What is the correct way?

When should we say "rahmatullah aleihi" and when should we say "rahimahullah"? I have understood "rahmatullah aleihi" is said in case of a ordinary Muslim and "rahimahullah" in case of scholars etc. Is this correct?

Assalamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh
Sheikh, I had read some of your tweets regarding Muslims and Islamic clothing, and I had a few questions.

    - So you were talking about how traditionally muslims have always looked distinct from kuffar, and I understand that but..
What does that apply to? Is it just thobes or..? Because for much of my life I have (alhamdulillah) worn shalwar qamees and topi everywhere I went, but recently people have been spawning doubts in my mind, that "oh there is no sunnah clothing" or "that's just Arab clothing" etc.
What is the definition of looking like a Muslim?

    - you wrote about how dhimmis had to wear a different clothing from muslims. Isn't that kind of oppressive or something? Non Muslims always claim that, under Muslim rule dhimmis were oppressed and discriminated against. How true are those claims?

-and lastly, about hating kuffar: what does exactly does that mean? I understand that we should not become very close friends with non Muslims because it can endanger our deen but how do we hate them? Shouldn't we love Allahs creation and hope for their guidance?
I have heard brothers say that- "we should hate the sin and not the sinner" is that true?
Can you clarify about hating, and rights of Allahs creation, and how are akhkaq should be with non Muslims and things like that.

    dear brother

    a) What is the ruling on Muslims who claim it's allowed for Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim man? If a Muslim says "I see nothing wrong in Muslim woman marrying a non-Muslim man" (they have knowledge so this can't be because of ignorance). Is this making haram halal i.e. kufr that makes a person kafir?

    b) What is the ruling on Muslims who say niqab is not part of Islam and someone who says "Niqab is nonsense"? Is this an act of kufr that takes a person out of Islam?

When a woman is praying and when she's in sujud, her toes touch the ground but they are on the hem of her abaya, does this render her prayer invalid? Are there different opinions among the four madhabs, must toes touch directly the ground?
Sometimes this just happens and it's very difficult/impossible to avoid. What should a woman do in this situation (continue prayer, start over or move her toes)?

    Salam alaikum
A person missed most of the fasts last Ramadan due to health issues, they were not able to make up the fasts as their health was not good

Should they wait to make up the fasts after Ramadan hoping their health will improve or pay some money ,
they also have fasts to make up from previous years and may not have enough money to pay for all of them,

also how much should be paid?
