    Statement Regarding allegations about Media

    Statement Regarding allegations about Media
Recently we had a new member on the forum making a post on how they wish to pledge allegiance to the new caliphate and encouraging others to make jihad and wage war against the western countries. Upon investigation of this new member who had a post count of zero prior to signing up to the forum, their registration IP addressed originated from what pointed to be the network belonging to the Daily Mail / Standard Newspaper in UK. The IP address of the actual post originated from North America. Upon registration the following information is collected from our system:

    1) Registration IP address
    2) Post IP Address

Just to make it clear Ummah.com has not accused Daily Mail / Standard of being behind this post, we simply questioned on that particular thread "Why was the IP address originating from that Network", any other responses in that thread are opinions and thoughts of our user base. At this point
    a) The user refused to respond despite giving adequate posting time and replies were read by the user in question
    b) The user violated several rules of our community which resulted in a ban - user was banned approx 1.5 hours after the posting

There may be possible explanations as to why this has happened, IP addresses can be spoofed or faked, proxies being used, someone may have compromised their network, or it may even have been someone within the network posting this trying to entrap us (Which is not uncommon for media going to the lengths of entrapment see below on past experiences with the Sun Newspaper)

To put it simple - we have not concluded anything yet.

To cast your minds a few years back a similar incident occurred with the Sun Newspaper (another newspaper constantly with an anti-Muslim agenda) where a self-certified fake terrorism expert by the name of "Glen Jenvey" used the exact same tactics to try and entrap our members into something similar which was then published by the Sun Newspaper who were then forced to issue us with an apology after being duped. You can read more about it here

Therefore we are extremely cautious especially about members who have a zero post count and first post contains content of a nature of entrapment, as we have been duped by the media before (Sun Newspaper), therefore you can understand why we take things like this as how they are. Our members are fully aware of what is acceptable and what is not and in no way do we endorse or condone any material as such.

    Just to clarify again

We are confused where all these rumours on twitter and on other news based websites are coming from here and whomever we talk to we will update this thread just so you make sure what you are reading is verified, any website which claims that "Ummah.com spokesperson has said..." is completely untrue and false.

Re: Statement Regarding allegations about Media

    Salam
Just to chip in perhaps shed some light on from a technical issue

Whenever a new member registers on the forum we have a field called "Registration IP" address

The IP address of the user who registered is captured on this field - so you could be registering from a particular network and it will simply detect the IP address from which network you are registering from and store it in the database

Then we have posting IP address so if you have over 100 posts for example on the forum every single time you have posted it will record the IP address from where you have posted from, so if you have posted for example from a University one day then it will log that on such and such day you posted from so and so university, then if you post from home at night it will note down the IP address of your home location and link it with the particular post

Now in this particular incident the registration IP address was from that particular network, and the actual posting was from based from North America

Now like we have mentioned numerous times already, no one has blamed any individual for this, simply all was asked is "Why was the IP address originating from that Network"

We made the IP address public, then people went on and did their own work and concluded all sorts by looking various lookup tools available on the internet.

Now since then it went all viral across the Internet and on Twitter as well, how this happened I am not entirely from then on all sorts of theories were concluded with people making their own conclusion on things.

If Indeed anyone has been subjected to individual abuse or anything then we can only apologies for this - such behaviour is not Islamic at all in any way or form and we don't really condone anything like this especially if its Muslims who have been hurly abuse and insults - sorry this is completely unIslamic behaviour and anyone participating in such insults especially during ramadhan really need to reflect on themselves and their behaviour during this holy month and need to control their tongue and character - What kind of example is this?
