Narrated Abu Huraira : I heard the Prophet saying. "Five practices are characteristics of the Fitra: circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, cutting the moustaches short, clipping the nails, and depilating the hair of the armpits." ( Bukhari, Book #72, Hadith #779)
The following link says........
"This hadth includes circumcision of both males and females."
However, how could this be applicable to women since they do not have the moustache that they should cut it short?
The quote from IslamQA specifically mentioned circumcision..."This hadeeth includes circumcision of both males and females," so they are talking only about circumcision in that section, not the whole hadith.
You see what I mean?
Call onto Allah, such that you are certain that He, al-Mujib wal-Kareem, will answer your call before you even lower your hands. وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
A lot of people freak out when they hear "female circumcision" because they think of female genital mutilation as is carried out on girls in some part of the world, and is a very damaging and horrific procedure, which is even life threatening. However the *Islamic* definition of female circumcision is the removal of part of the hood of the clitoris, and the western name for this procedure is "hoodectomy" and it's done by western doctors sometimes for medical reasons. In any case, the hood of the clitoris is equivalent to the foreskin of the male part, and it is obviously a lot smaller. The benefits of having it done is that it enhances sexual pleasure for women, and it doesn't do any damage. It's equivalent to male circumcision. There is a hadeeth where Muhammad says that this involves "the tiniest cut". Anything exceeding this is haram.
Another thing is that circumcision is compulsory for males, but not compulsory for females.
