THIS astonishing skyscraper is set to become the world’s tallest building – and it really will stick out a mile.

Plans were unveiled yesterday for Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia which will be exactly one mile high.

It will have 275 floors and be twice the height of Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which is currently the world’s tallest building.

Kingdom Tower is expected to cost £12billion to construct and it will take 12 minutes to reach the top in a lift.

Members of the Saudi royal family unveiled the proposals showing that the megastructure will include hotels, offices apartments and a shopping centre.

The tower will have 12 million cubic square feet of interior space – 12 times more than Canary Wharf in East London. And it will be five times higher than the Shard of Glass in South London which will be Britain’s tallest building when completed next year.

Kingdom Tower will be financed by the Saudi royal family-owned Kingdom Holding Company which is chaired by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal and is the nation’s largest company.

US firm Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, which designed the Burj Khalifa, drew up the plans and skyscraper specialist Emaar, based in Dubai, is understood to have won the contract to build the tower outside the Red Sea port of Jeddah as the centre piece of a new city.

But the project has been criticised by Rory Olcayto, deputy editor of The Architects’ Journal, who said: “The race to build the highest skyscraper is quite futile – where do you stop?

“These buildings are a symbol of an old-fashioned way of thinking.”

They already built a new Kaa'ba that's right next doors to the actual Kaa'ba; that whole clocktower ziggurat-complex. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they renovated the Kaa'ba into an obelisk that extends to outer space.

Hm, the great dilemmas the House of Saud face. You could pay for Hajj for massive amounts of people or build a mile high tower... I guess the mile high tower is more important.

What i dont understand is....

Knowledge of Quran and Hadith is widespread in Arabia even among the common folk, the leaders must surely know of this Hadith...

Why then do they rush headlong to fulfil this prophecy ?

Are they deliberately trying to hasten the Day of Reckoning?

Either way there is no doubt that Rasulallah (saw) was a true Prophet of Allah - he predicted these events 1400 years ago.

Every true prophecy of Rasulallah shall be fulfilled by the will of Allah .

But does the hadith say whether those bedouins shall be Muslims or Kuffar ? If those barefoot destitute shepherds are Muslims as per the hadith then these Royals would be least perturbed by this hadith but if it attacks their faith and if they know it and yet continue then may Allah save them and rest of the Ummah from such deeds .

My point was does the hadith quoted question the faith of those Arabs who build skyscrapers ?

if not then the criticism should be more sagacious and not bashful .

And if it doesnot have any benefit to the community then it sure invites harsh criticism .
