Question Is it ok to evade Custom Duties ?

Has anyone heard/read of a fatwa which legalizes to evade custom duties as 'Maqs' is Haraam in Islam

Re: Is it ok to evade Custom Duties ?

Originally taxes and custom duties and any other monetary duty other than zakat are harram to oppose on muslims, we are talking here about an islamic state rule, however secular governments do what they wish these days. And yes its called maqs.

Question remained unanswered. Would it be Haram to deliberately undervalue a product while importing/exporting. Please note I am not giving anyone ideas. I am just asking to clear my doubts as i need to import something.

Why would you need a fatwa to determine right from wrong?

Had it been so black and white, i wouldn't have asked it in the first place.

See this fatwa, they are legalizing paying bribe (for duty evasion)

Success in Non-Muslim societies is not determined by right and wrong . It doesnot matter for them how one reached there but how soon one got there and how long one stays there .
Where there are no Ulemah(Scholars) there are many Muftis.

So according to this fatwa, you think you are allowed to evade paying Customs tax to say, the UK? How will that defense hold up in UK Court?
