it is JazakAllah KHAIR not JazakAllah

this is a general information for some brothers & sisters who say "JazakAllah" when someone does something good for them or in general...

saying only "JazakAllah" means "may Allah award you" and not "may Allah REward you", so it could be anything...Allay may award some1 punishment also...

"JazakAllah Khair" means "may Allah reward you", which is the right thing to say..

just an information i wanted 2 share...

Jazakallah khAir means may Allah reward you which is obviously better then saying to someone. May Allah award you and add nothing else which ca be good or bad ini? This is purely based on the arabic language ...

see this is the problem when you dont understand proper Arabic...

this quotation u gave is actually against ur argument..

    here ibn Abbas said
جزاك الله يا أبا سعيد عني الجنة
which means may Allah award you JANNAH!!!
so read the whole dua 1st...

he didnt say "jazakAllah" & thats it....

in ARABIC language JazakAllah alone means "may Allah award u" & Allah can award any1 jannah, paradise, good or punishmen, hell etc....

jazakAllah KHAIR means may Allah reward u...its simple brother, if u know arabic u would understand...

exactly, since we use the arabic language saying "JazakAllah" then it is better 2 complete it & say "JazakAllah khair", its as simple as that.........

    Just a slight correction ...

"JazakAllah Khair" means ... "may Allah reward you with the Best or what is Good",

"JazakAllah" means "may Allah reward you",

this is could be with anything ...

    so we should say "JazakaAllahhu-Khair"

    a slight correction

"JazakAllah" does not mean "may Allah reward you" but
    "may Allah award you"

because the word "reward" means something good in return but "JazakAllah" alone does not mean that....

    Salaam,

Yes we should say JazakhaAllah Khair, but there is no harm in saying JazakhaAllah as Allah (swt) knows our intentions when we say it, hence it is good, we only say jazakhaAllah when we want to thank someone and make dua for them, so its not really bad to just say jazakhaAllah inshaAllah.

i know it is not wrong, but the more accurate way of showing ur appreciation in arabic is "JazakAllah Khair" rather than just "JazakAllah", those who speak Arabic would never say "JazakAllah" even if their intention is good.......

i think u mean when someone writes "jazaks" or "jzk", because no 1 would say that...

i think it is 4 lazy people 2 write instead of writing the full thing, when we have muslims who r 2 lazy 2 wrote Prophet Peace Be Upon Him & write Prophet PBUH so we can expect them 2 write jazaks.....

I even heard many who says "jazaks". I am like in few generations from now this word is gonna be another american way to say thanks, just a meaningless word.

As for the original post, I totally agree with tayyiboon; you will never hear a jazakAllah from an arab (not that they never thank people) but because it is incomplete in meaning.

yep i have seen and heard salaams too. and yes I have never heard Jazakalllah from an arab. I actually said that to somebody once, and he told me brother jazakalalh khayr or sharr? then he explained to me. it all made sense.

and to those people who like to abbreviate these things, my question is to them how would you feel when you see your 7hasanat has been abbreviated/shrinked as well than what you could have otherwise gotten?

"May Allah Award you" is an Ambigious statement ...

it aught to be finished, "May Allah (Ta'ala) award you with the best"

we seem to be always seeking a shortcut, even when we say Salam, it's the shortest version, while we are told in the Quran to meet it with an equivalent greeting at the bare minimum,

we seem to be always seeking a shortcut, even when we say Salam, it's the shortest version, while we are told in the Quran to meet it with an equivalent greeting at the bare minimum,
khair nothing wrong with saying جزاك الله

Just a choice of preference, i always say jazakAllah..

yes brother mujahid likes 2 argue & likes 2 act stubborn...

as i said b4, no arab or 1 who speaks arabic fluently would ever say "jazakAllah" & leave it like that..because it is ambiguous...

JazakAllah Khair is the more appropriate way.......

    هذه جملة غير مفيدة

u said jazak Allah then u leave it there, its like u said the مبتدئ

    but no خبر

    and the خبر is Khair

so therefore, its like an unfinished sentence to me

Should the Jews have been given a homeland?
