Brother, as a Sister who often gets mistaken for a Brother, let me share my advice, inshallah.

I've never been proposed to, or ever met a potential spouse...which is kinda sad, but if I did and he liked me and continued to meet other sisters (because the sisters will probably find out that he's talking to someone else), then I'd feel hurt. I'd wonder why he didn't just tell me that he didn't like me before he went to talk to someone else, or if he's just using me to be as a safety net.

Best bet is to pray istikharah, meet the girl and if you like her continue with her only. If you don't, then branch out inshallah. But it's generally not a good thing to dabble between different things and then picking what is convenient to you. In Islam, the Prophet (SAW) didn't do this, if he made a decision he would go with it. An example of this is the battle of Uhud, where he decided (after everyone voiced their opinion) to fight outside of Medina.

Also, in Islam we don't pick and choose different hadiths or ayat to apply to our life. If one is authentic then you follow it to the best of your capabilities. So if we do this for Islam, then do this for marriages too.

hmm..I don't think we should ridicule the brother. I know his threads don't really mean much to us, but he is turning to us for advice for every little thing because he wants to get things right. It might not come across as such but his intention is to get married and he is sincere about it. Atleast he isn't looking to go on some serial dating with the sisters he meets. May Allah grant him a pious beautiful wife(Ameen) as it is very difficult in these times to find someone and none of us know when it will be our turn next and what dilemmas we will face when looking for a spouse.

Brother Rizwan, I've been giving you detailed advice on your threads, if you have noticed.

Remember just before Ramadhan, a few brother's were really annoyed at you. It's not because you create too many threads or ask loads of questions. They were concerned about you because someone had already approached you and you were posting about how you are going to look elsewhere e.g. websites. What you should have done was dealt with that proposal first, if they're not interested then move on. If someone is interested in you and they find out that you're looking around all over the place, they are likely to be put off.

Your brothers and sisters on Ummah are just concerned about you as we don't want you to mess it all up, scare people off and end up with no-one. I'm sure you don't want that either.
