    Mina luggage

    Salaam,

I was just wondering what everybody takes in their luggage during their stay in Mina.

I am going to take my sleeping bag and a change of clothes in a backpack. Does the back pack have to be carried in the hand rather than slinging it over shoulder (when in ihram).

    Re: Mina luggage

It's OK to carry your backpack any way you want: a backpack is not something you normally wear as clothes, so there are no restrictions.

Take some snacks for the night of Muzdalifah. Try also to limit you liquid intake while at Arafah (without risking dehydration of course) to minimize the need to go to bathrooms in Muzdalifah. Wait time can be 1 to 2 hours.

For tips on what to take please see this presentation: http://www.iseb.org/hajj/Hajj.pptx

    May Allah accept your Hajj

    Salaam,

is there any restriction on taking luggage out of mina? I was reading a thread by ibn suleman on this forum (hajj diary) where he said that people going from mina to makkah were not allowed to take bags???

    Re: Mina luggage

If you intend to walk to Makkah from Mina through Jamaraat then you will have problem if you carry bulky backpack. Otherwise it will not be stopped InshaAllah.

If you intend to walk to Mina without going through Jamaraat then the size of your luggage is not a problem as long as you are managing that. The use of the pedetrian tunnel is not prohibitive either.

If you are able to bypass the jamaraat altogether it will be even better. What I am suggesting is that you get on the King Abdul Aziz flyover which is next to Europa camps and walk straight towards the Kings palaces sitting on top of the mountain. This is when you are on the flyover with your back to the camps and look to your left. The palaces are after the Masjid e Kuwaiti. Once you have passed the palaces the road slopes down and you come to a crossroad with traffic lights. You turn right into this cross road. You are in North Aziziya now. You can hitch a taxi to the Haram if you like as the walk will be a bit longer than if you had gone past the jamaraat.
