the debate finished a while ago, but the thread gets bumped every time someone votes in the poll. So I've closed the poll. You can't vote any more but you can reply to the thread.

Re: little boys dressing up as little girls

wow i cant believe some people are ok with this
i would discourage it albeit not in a bait manner. but i would distract my son and intice him with something better.

childrens brains are like sponges so the earliar you teach them certain things, the more likely they are to remember.

age of 2 to 5 is an age where believe it or not some kids do understand more than we think. dont forget some children are more aware then others.

what is the point letting ur 3/4 yr old dress up as the opposite gender then teaching them aged 6/7 that its haram to do so.

i personaly will apply the shariah laws to my child as intructed and not waive some rules because i use the logic of oh his to young to understand its ok.

dunno just doesnt sit well with me.
the prophet taught us the curse of Allah is one the man who imitates a woman and vice versa. so i would want to make sure i avoid the forbidden act the hadith teaches and also my child to do the same what ever age.

yes i would explain the reason when they are old enough to understand. but avoid the act even if they are to young to understand

    hope am making some sense.

You'd have to 'waive' some rules if there too young to understand, it wouldn't make sense otherwise.

Oh darn, i knew it i just knew someone was gonna say something like that and was thinking to make my post even longer by explaining more so the above assumptions my post gave birth to wouldnt come into existence but guess what? i got to lazy and i shouldnt have. but feeling full of energy now....so lets try this again.....

i know there are somethings in shariah law that a child will not understand till later. and no i would not apply shariah in matters they never understood. that isnt wise now is it or just.

what i meant was i would instill the shar'i principles in my kids as early as possible and avoid what contradicts it in clear matters like my son imitating a girl in dress n make up. i would not enforce upon him laws which he doesnt have to implement till a certain time.
I think its silly letting him dress as a kid drag aged 3 then telling him its wrong age 6. i rather teach him when his old enough to understand. and avoid somethings which will later confuse the teaching.
p.s i didnt like the style in questioning u chose to adopt to make me see 'the error' of my ways. very patronising.

The Alawis here has a very disgusting tradition.
If they have a son that they were longing for many years, they never cut his hair until 7 years old. And they cut it ath the age 7 with a sacrificing sheep ceremony. Kind of an offer (we call it as adaq)

You're confused with "wrong" and "accountability", what is wrong is always wrong, but accountability is another story, accountability only starts from puberty.
