World's first test tube baby turns 25
CAMBRIDGESHIRE, England, July 26 (UPI) -- Louise Brown, the world's first test tube baby, was honored Saturday at the clinic where she was conceived 25 years ago.
More than 1,000 children created by invitro fertilization attended the ceremony at the Bourn Hall clinic, the BBC reported.
Brown's birthday was Friday, July 25, 1978. Among those at the party were quadruplets from Iceland, the BBC said.
"It's so nice to be here with everybody, to see all the other IVF babies who have been born in the last 25 yeas," Brown said.
She was accompanied by her parents and members of the pioneering team that helped in her conception, including Dr. Bob Edwards.
Brown said she is now a postal worker living in Bristol.
"I have just got on with my life, normally," she said. "I don't do many interviews, I just sort of take everything in my stride. I plod along."
