    allahu akbar

    its the old spec
if you got notes on biochemisstry it would be helpful
organic chem will be useful as well later onwards
basicaly m retakin every unit in chem so basically m doin a 2 yr course in 1 year
so ny a2 notes will b good esp on trennnds n paaatern, as foundation
right now m taking a2 units of biochem, trends n paaatern, and as foundationnn. june will be chains n rings, chains ring n spectoscopy(or whaeva its called) n unifyin conceptss
lol soooooo every little contribution counts
may allah increase the knowledge in those who help me through the hard times ameen
    btw Ocr spec
condensed n short notes would b ideal for me inshallah

    Re: chemistry ""a" level" notes

I have loads of hand written notes, but I don't know how exactly I'd get them to you, because there are loads..
I never did a module called BioChem,so Im sorry I wont be able to help you there..But I did do foundation, chains and rings, how far how far how fast and am doing the A2s at the moment.
Basically,I don't use the actual OCR book for chemistry, because there are LOADS of mistakes in that book..
I use these books and I find them to be REALLY good
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Essential-AS...3686134&sr=1-1
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Essential-A2...3686066&sr=8-1
Absolutely EVERYTHING you need in there, nothing else except what's required..All my class notes I am pretty sure they're taken out of these books, and my class notes given by my teacher are amazing..(and therefore so are these books)
They're a little on the expensive side, but you could sell them on afterwards if you wanted..
I can give you a link to the papers though if you want, will PM that you inshaAllah..for all modules from 03 I think, hopefully to present.Btw all the papers are available on the OCR website..

    Re: chemistry ""a" level" notes

can you please explain this to me n give me like an exam answer at the end please

1)explain why chlorine ,bromine and iodine have different physical state at room tempreture and pressure(4)

2)an aqueos solution of bromine was added to an aqueous solution of chlorine ions and also to an aqueos solution to iodide ions
-state what you would see in each case
-include an equation for any chemical reaction that takes place
    - explain the trend shown by these observation (4)

    Re: chemistry ""a" level" notes

    1) At room temp cl is a gas,bromine is a liquid,iodine is a solid..
this is because,as we go down group 7,
number of electrons increase as we go down the group..
the strength of intermolecular VDW increases due to there being a greater number of electrons and so the molecule size increases..
and so there are stronger forces between the molecules..(cl being gas,has the weakest force betw molecules and therefore is a gas..and iodine has the strongest to hold it tgether n therefore takes form of a solid)

Gerrit? That should give you four marks right there
Lemme just do the other one now..

    Re: chemistry ""a" level" notes

    2)
when bromine is added tp the iodide ions, the bromine would displace the iodide ions as iodine has less oxidising power than bromine ..there would be a colour change from red brown--> purple.. and the equation : Br2 + 2I- ---> 2Br - + I2
when bromine is added to to chloride ions, there will be no reaction, and it will remain red brown..
Bromine has a lower oxidising power than chlorine but not of Iodine. This shows that as your go down group 7 the Oxidising power decreases..

I reckon that'd give you 4 marks aswell..

h2so4 was added to aqueous Ba(OH)2 untill solution was just nutralised, forming an insoluble salt, BaSO4 n H20

-the elctrical conductivity of the solution steadily decreases as the H2SO4 was added

explain why the electrical conductivity deacresed?

and another question(sorry if i am being a pain in d back side lol)

bond angle of NCl3 how do you work it out, the names of the shapes

and explain why example ncl3 has dis shape?(3 marks)
explain why water has dis shape?
explain why CO2 has dis shape?
what ever the shape of above are
and what is a lone pair
    what is bonding pair
    easy ways to remeber it

sors dis question is bit long due to me not understandin this whole thing

Read this, and then attempt your Q again..and then if you can't do it I will give you a hand..You need to have made a list/table of numbr of bond pairs and lone pairs, the name of the molecule, and then the angles..

What's written on that page is alright for OCR too,but yeah I know what you mean as it doesn't cover everything from other syllabuses..

Anyone doing A2 Chemistry with the AQA board?

    Kc, Kp, Ka, Kw... Honestly...

    But great number of marks!!!

I saw 16 marks being given on a 3-part question to do with Acids and Bases, so Ka and Kw was needed. I was shocked!!!

    Chemistry with maths rocks!

Agreed. Besides, usually, the books the school/college gets as the ones that are for the syllabus, are the best ones.

oh yh get calculation in AS/A level chemistry by jim clark
    it shows step by step
on how to do calculation n ull never go wrong buying this book

i was struggling on calculation ma chem teacher let me borrow it i aint still gave it bk m working through the book n m not having ny problems with calculations now

hopefully inshallah ill improve other areas and get a solid A

you know when you draw the shape of BeCl2 which is 180 degree should it be Cl=Be=Cl or Cl-Be-Cl, i know for CO2 its o=c=o

Cl cannot form double bonds, so it would b Cl-Be-Cl
