what did you wear on your wedding day?

Salaam, a question directed mainly at girls/women but males can participate if they wish. So what did you wear on your wedding day and how much did it cost to get your lenhga/outfit?
Ive have found that the growing trend with girls is that they go back home to get their outfits, was this the case with you and was timing a big issue?

Re: what did you wear on your wedding day?

As long as ou are comfortable in the clothing and within your means, there is no harm in making an effort to look nice for your husband After all, it only happens once so that bit of effort is worth it
    What does 'freedom' mean?

Does the eagle want to swim in the sea,
    Restricted by the sky?

Does the fish want to dance on the wind,
    Not enough river to explore?

Yet the sky is freedom for the bird
    but death for the fish,

The sea is wide for the fish
    but will engulf the bird.

We ask for freedom but freedom to do what?
We can only express our nature as it was created.

The prayer mat of the earth is freedom,
freedom from slavery to other than the One,
Who offers an shoreless ocean of love to swim in
and a horizon that extends to the next life,

Re: what did you wear on your wedding day?

I was a traditional bride with all the trimmings - my dress was very bridal, glamorous, heavy and expensive.

I've worn this outfit a few times since then, I wore all the outfits to my sisters wedding. I intend to wear it on my brothers wedding and my sister in laws wedding...

A cousin of mine wore her wedding outfit on the birth of her first child. We do seem to get a lot of wear out of our wedding outfits.

Re: what did you wear on your wedding day?

This really made me think. I'd forgotten that I'd worn my SIL (husbands brothers wife's) walima dress. My husband didn't have job and couldn't afford one so his brother and wife 'donated' theirs.

Now hubby and I earn twice as much as them and pay all the bills in the house. Subhanallah. Life changes and we don't even notice.

(Not that she's ever mentioned it, like I said I'd actually forgotten).
