Your house doesn't have curtains, but your truck does.

You wonder how service stations keep their restrooms so clean.

You consider your license plate personalized because your father
made it.

Your lifetime goal is to own a fireworks stand.

You have a complete set of salad bowls and they all say "Cool
Whip" on the side.

The biggest city you've ever been to is Walmart.

Your working TV sits on top of your non-working TV.

You've used your ironing board as a buffet table.

It's A Term Calling Someone That Lives In the South White Trash.

Rednecks are folks who live out in the country - not necessarilly in the American South - but a majority of the stereotypes are based on those characters. Not too much difference between "redneck" and white trash. They like guns, lack education, don't keep their house/yard in the most appealing of conditions, most likely are racist, etc. Term came from a description of white folks who worked outside (farming) in the sun, and got red necks. Obviosuly, only poor white folks worked in the fields.

Interestingly enough, the Afrikaners in South Africa used to call the English "rooineck" or, redneck.

I like guns. But, I have a Master's Degree, I live in the city, am
not racist, and my house is kept in immaculate order. Am I a
"redneck" because of my gun collecting hobby?

I agree with you on this as i own several Guns Drive a Nice Car. Nice House Live in the city. and Working on my Master's Degree. but the only difrence is i am a racist but to only to the ones that are racist towards me.

Yes, as sport. Just as a golfer might go to the driving range or
course, I go to various gun ranges to improve my marksmanship.
This involves keeping score. In this case though, I do not play
against anyone else, per se. I am competing against myself,
and my previous scores.

Unfortunately, I have this same discussion with my fiance' who
just can't understand it as a sport. But, I'm working on her!...She

Well we had that exact case a little while ago.

Burglar enters house.

Owner shoots him.

Owner of house goes to trial for harming burglar: self defence or not.

An old womans house was continiously broken into.
Her son took it upon himself and twisted barbed wire across the whole wall at the back of the garden to deter them.

The council made him remove it, claiming that a potential burglar could be harmed if they tried to climb the wall.

Democracy? Hah!

I think in Louisiana, you'd be fine. They still have some ancient French law on that. You can be sentenced if you kill a burglar, yes. It happens. Some people also get off. So it depends on the case. There was a terrible story in England a couple years ago of a farmer who had been repeatedly burglarized. He talked to the police but they never did much about it. So one day, when the burglars came, he shot one of them and was later arrested and put away. Seems unfair to me. I don't remember the deatils, but I think the uproar was that he didn;t kill the guy and he made it known he had a gun.

Awhile Back I had A police officer here in the city where i live told me we can shoot a burgler but only if he/she Enters the house and thats the only time.. if you shot the person outside your home you better drag him/her in if you know what i mean.

Some would say that Britian is in worse shape precisley because they don't have guns. Check this link from the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/2656875.stm.

As to punishments for shooting and intruder in your home, it really depends on the state you live in. In most states you can only legally shoot an intruder if he/she is armed AND threatening your life. Then you can only do so once you have retreated as far as you can but most courts recognize your home as being that last line of defense. In most states (not all such as Texas) you can not use deadly force to protect property so if the burglar is unarmed and not physically threatening then you can be prosecuted if you shoot them.

I was born in the south to poor uneducated parents who where the children of share croppers guess they would be discribed as "white trash" by elitists, I also like guns as well. Guess I could be considered a Redneck or a Redneck once removed because I was raised in the north I am not however a racist, you have to keep in mind that Redneck is a stereotype and like all stereotypes most of the descriptions are false or greatly exaggerated!
