Nearly 400 men are trapped in the prison at Guantanamo without charge or trial. This prison is the symbol and the center of President Bush's assault on international law. But now we have a chance to shut it down -- Bush's own Secretary of Defense is publicly calling for closing Guantanamo. Bush’s advisors are split, and a global outcry could tip the balance. Sign the petition below. We’ll run the petition and number of signers in key US newspapers as soon as we have signatures from every country:

Petition to US President Bush: We call upon US President Bush to close Guantanamo Bay prison forever. Every detainee should be charged with a crime and tried in a legitimate court or immediately released. We further call on President Bush to respect international law and basic human rights in the handling of all current and future prisoners in US custody.

We gotta try something, anything we can to try to make a differnce! and it may not be ground breaking but it is a start! and Insha'allah, we can stand before Allah(swt) on the day of reckoning with a big old scale full of good deeds due to help/stand we have made for our oppressed brothers and sisters!

I can understand sis what ya mean but the best we can do is try. Allah SWT is watching our actions constantly.

You know these things are, if not by Bush, then by other people incongress etc. acknowledged somehow.

At the end of the day word spreads, and the more people sign, the more likely it is to get acknowledged by bush!

It doesnt take long, its so simple and easy. And at the end, pray that insha'allah Bush get hold of the petition and is forced into taking action.
