2 Meanwhile in another pot, heat oil and mustard seeds. Let it splutter.

    3. Add 1 onion sliced , whole jeeru, 2 or 3 taj, 2 or 3 cloves, 2 or 3 whole black pepper. 1 or 2 whole chillies Let onions brown.

    4. Add 1 tsp ginger masala (ginger/garlic), and chicken. Now add 1/2 tsp salt (can add and taste more later) , 2 or 3 tsp dhara powder, chilli powder (depends how hot you want it), 1 tsp jeeru powder, 1/4 tsp tumeric powder, green masala (do you know what that is?). Let chicken cook.

    5. Add 1 or 2 fresh tomatoes - if not available then process the tin version and use half. Also add a squirt of tomato puree. Add a little water and let it cook more. Taste and add anything needed.

    6. After you have whisked the daar so that is smooth add the above mixture in, add water and let it boil for 10/15 mins on medium and then another 10/15 mins let it slowly simmer. Chop corriander in and again taste for salt and marcha. Add in if needed.

Measurments off just the top of my head - as when I make it I average it myself.
    sis, what are those?

also, when you say "let chicken cook" (number 4) do you mean on low heat with lid on or do you mean fry the chicken off?

do you add the tomatoes once the chicken has cooked?
And another (favour will He bestow,) which ye do love,- help from Allah and a speedy victory. So give the Glad Tidings to the Believers.

    dhara powder - corriander powder.

green masal - is corriander blended to a smoothish mixture with green chillies and 2 or 3 cloves of garlic!

Medium heat. Put lid on but don't forget it's there!

The chicken I use (on bone) are cut in to ok size pieces so it cooks pretty quick. I add the tomotoes after chicken has been half to nearly cooked.

can anyone else bring daal chaawal to gpu?

i wanna know what all the fuss is about
Sayyiduna Umar (Allah be pleased with him) said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) say, “If you relied on Allah as He should be relied on, He would provide for you as He provides for birds.
They go out hungry in the early morning, and return full in the evening." [Tirmidhi]

Do not try to run away from trials and tribulations, but endure them with patience. They cannot be avoided, and there is nothing for it but to endure them with patience. How can you expect the whole of this world, and all that has been created therein, to undergo change and transformation just to suit your convenience? The Prophets are the best of all creatures, yet they have always had to suffer afflictions and so it is for their followers, those who tread in their footsteps as they walk along their highway, emulating their example.

    Shaikh Abdul Qadir al-Jilani
